The last thing we want now is to have to close the School for 2 weeks. Please be diligent with your children if they are unwell. We are required to ring you and send them home if they have any cold symptoms. It does appear that there are a few cases of colds around due to the fact that we have been isolated from these for some time. Assembly is allowed but only for 15 minutes. We will use this to present merits and no parents will be invited as yet. I will schedule a Medal Assembly for Term 3 so keep saving your merit certificates at home. They can be given to your Teacher as previously done and they will be kept for Term 3. The parking and movement in and around Kiss and Drop is still a problem. Please remember to queue into Nimbin and not back onto the Comenarra Parkway. Please be considerate of other drivers and our neighbours. Margaret Foott Principal

Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to Week 8! The Term is disappearing rapidly.

We have our Term 2 P&C Meeting this evening in the Library where we will be able to distance easily. All welcome for a 7:30pm start.

You will have seen that many of the restrictions for schools are now being lifted:

- The Band Program has commenced this week in a slightly modified form.

- Most music tutors are now back on site.

- Parents are still not to enter the grounds unless there are exceptional reasons. This will affect the Band Program and children will be delivered to the gate for collection or back to OOSH as they have in the past.

- PSSA has been cancelled for Term 3 but Term 4 Summer Competition will proceed as usual.

- Other groups are welcome back in Term 3. These are Dance, Choir, Chess, Lego Club, Code Camp, Karate, International School of Music and Monday Art classes.

- School Banking can also recommence Term 3.

- Scripture Classes and Ethics will also be returning in Term 3.

The Athletics Carnival has been cancelled for the year and no carnival will be held at Bannockburn Oval but we may plan a smaller event for the students at school.

These change at short notice and we will try to keep you up-to-date as we hear. The pandemic has not gone away so we need to remain alert to what is happening in the area and beyond.

Sport Update:

In light of the recent update from the School Sport Unit (copy below), please be advised that all Hornsby Zone PSSA selection trials for the below sports will now no longer take place, including the Zone Athletics Carnival. We join with the SSU in advising that these decisions have not been made lightly. I think it’s an understatement to say that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed everything for this year. We regret most of all that our Year 6s have missed out on many representative opportunities but wish to congratulate them on their resilience and hope that they can continue their sporting efforts in High School. The PSSA executive is currently discussing some ideas around Term 3 sport. Winter PSSA competition is definitely off, it would be impossible for us to run a fair competition for all 15 schools in our school. Watch this space for further advice.

The School Sport Unit wishes to advise that the following Sports events have been cancelled for Term 3, 2020.

· NSWPSSA Cross Country · NSWPSSA Netball state championship · NSWPSSA Boys Touch state championship · NSWPSSA Rugby Union state championship · NSWPSSA Girls Rugby 7s · NSWPSSA Golf state championship · NSWPSSA Boys Softball state championship · NSWPSSA Girls Touch state championship · NSWPSSA Girls Softball state championship · Primary Girls Cricket trials · Primary Boys Cricket trials

The following Sports events have been cancelled for Term 4, 2020.

· NSWPSSA Athletics

All Term 3 & 4 2020 NSWPSSA activities are now cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

The health and wellbeing of everyone involved is paramount and at the heart of this decision. We recognise the pressures that schools are currently experiencing and supporting staff and students remains our highest priority.

Enjoy your week,

Katrina McGuire & Reg de Jager
