MMS Long Day Care Program• In response to interest and requests from our parents, Melbourne

Montessori School (MMS), in collaboration with Headland Montessori, is pleased to offer the additional option of MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care program.

• During school hours the MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care program will be run by MMS staff, with care outside school hours provided by Headland Montessori.

• Headland Montessori is an experienced and very well-regarded, MQAP* recognised, Montessori child care operator from Sydney, who will run full-time long day care at their new premises in Grange Road, Caulfield East (see back page).

• The Grange Road centre will be a purpose-built Montessori childcare centre including specially designed outdoor learning areas.

MMS Cycle 1 Choices• Commencing Term 1, 2020, MMS parents who are looking for long

day care can send their child to the MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care option at this new centre in Grange Road, Caulfield East.

• The MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care program will be identical to that currently provided in the Cycle 1 program at Brighton, with 3 year olds, 4 year olds and 5 year olds together in the classroom with a maximum of 22 children.

• The Cycle 1 program will continue at Brighton as normal, with 4 or

5 classrooms.

• At least one teacher and assistant from MMS Brighton campus will be teaching the MMS Cycle 1 class at the Grange Road centre.

Relationship and Culture• The MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care program at the Grange Road

centre will be treated as an integral part of MMS.

• Children will be enrolled with Headland Montessori in the MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care program but parents will still be full members of Melbourne Montessori School Limited (the entity that is the School), as they would be if enrolled at Brighton.

• Parents of children enrolled in non-MMS programs at Headland Montessori at Grange Road will not be entitled to membership of MMS, however they will be invited to be an extended part of our community by attending open days and other events.

• MMS and Headland Montessori staff will work together to share planning, professional development opportunities and events exactly as our Junior School does now.

• There will be some minor changes to classes at Brighton. Changes normally occur each year and this is not new to the children.

Benefits• This program is designed to suit working parents or any families

that require a Long Day Care option.

• The fees are comparable with, and in some cases cheaper than, local long day care options and are fully subsidised (see page 6).

• The MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care will be in a full Montessori setting with Montessori educators.

• Children in the MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care program at the Grange Road centre will continue to receive MMS Cycle 1 curriculum from MMS staff as they do now.

• Children will additionally receive care before and after school hours delivered by Headland Montessori in a brand new, purpose-built Montessori environment.

• Children in this program will be treated identically to children in the current Cycle 1 program in terms of priority and access to Cycle 2 at MMS. They will be considered part of the School just as they are now, as will the parents.

• Fresh breakfast and lunch prepared by a chef on site will be provided. The children will still have a kitchen in the classroom and will experience food preparation as they do currently at Brighton.

Costs• The cost of the MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care program at the

Grange Road centre will be ~$35,500 p.a. before subsidies. All hours would be eligible for Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

• The 2019 cost of the Cycle 1 program at MMS / Brighton is $14,280 p.a.

• The MMS Cycle 1 Long Day Care program will cost more than current Cycle 1 fees. Costs will vary dependent on family circumstances and government child care subsidy payments.
