WHEN IT STARTS FEELING

CHRISTMASSY IN THE

MOZART CITY …

… is when the Salzburg Christmas Market opens its doors. Vendors offer a variety of goods at their traditional stalls, lined up at the foot of Hohensalzburg Fortress and around the venerable Cathedral.

A TRADITION FOR MORE

THAN 400 YEARS.

What began as a simple flea marketon Cathedral Square developed intoone of Europe’s most famous Adven markets in the 17th century. In 1974, the Nikolaimarkt finally became the Salzburger Christkindlmarkt, or the Salzburg Christmas Market, in today’s unmistakable form.

BEAUTIFUL THINGS,

FINE DELICACIES...

Beneath the unique starry sky, there are traditional han-dicrafts, festive Christmas jewellery, decorations and toys such as you’ll find almost nowhere else nowadays.

So you’ll really feel like treating yourself and others! The old custom here of giving gifts to those you love and che-rish on Christmas Eve can be experienced in a wonderful way. If you’re looking for something really special, you’re sure to find it at the Salzburg Christmas Market.

Accompanied by softly sung Christmas carols, you can warm up now and then with some hot punch or mulled wine, and taste the many Salzburg delicacies and culi-nary treats.
