School -Gabby Barrera

School is fun

You can learn You make friends

You go on fieldtrips

My Violin -Tiana Ngo

There’s always a story to be told When the bow hits the strings the melody is bold

It sounds like an ocean wave I can play it in a cave In the cave its echo

Is as smooth as my gecko.

Birds -Clayton Church

Black, white, gray feathers Slick, smooth, aerodynamic wings

Glide through the evening light Roost in the tallest of trees

Birds

School -Katherine Vu Fun is at school, But school is cool, At school you can play, But not everyday, I play math games, And they have names.

Library -Noah Pearce The Library is place were kids and adults Can get a book like a movie in their head.

You can get a book about knights and dragons, A book about pirates, or a book about a famous writer.

But if you don’t won’t to read kid books step up a book and Read history, mysteries, and science

Or grab some poetry to fill your mind with riddles and rhymes. Now you know why the library is a wonderful place

Oh silly me I forgot the best part is meeting the librarian. Reading a book is better than watching a movie or TV.

WATER BUFFALO and the MEERKAT

-Ellie Seida and Sorrel Myers

Life on the savanna is

Really quite slow

Sometimes

I even trip on my toe

I wade in the water

I wallow in the mud

Living on the savanna is

really quite something...

Life on the savanna is Is joyous and fun

I will look back when my days are done

because this has been really fun

I play in the grass

And I like to pass gas

Living on the savanna is really quite something ...

Cats!!!! -Makeya Faletogo

Cats are fluffy maybe cuddly. Cats are cute!

Sometimes cats are mean. Sometimes they’re nice!

Cats are like black panthers in the night! Cats have a wild side and a cute side.

Cats can climb trees.

PRIMORDIAL POOLS -Ruth Asare

Deep in the woods a phenomenon occurs Abounding with primitive life, it endures

Steam gently rises from the Primordial Pool As warm water mingles with air so cool Cradled in forest that reaches to the sky Pungent scents on the breeze waft by Slippery water upon your skin glides

Herein Nature’s secret abides When with the water you begin to blend

Your physical ailments soon start to mend Purging the body of all impurities

Cleansing the mind of all absurdities Heat flows from deep within the earth Reclaiming you with a sense of mirth

1,2, Buckle My Shoe -(Nick Doerfler) 1,2 buckle my shoe 3,4 shut the door 5,6 PICK UP STICKS 7,8 LAY THEM STRAIGHT 9,10 A BIG FAT HEN.

Haiku -Sarah Doerfler*

As a penny lands upon

An old turtle’s back

Cat on a Hat -Katherine Vu A cat sat down on a hat. The hat was flat. That’s that.

THANK YOU FOR EVERY THING

-Hamda Omar

Sweet Teachers Oh my sub for today is a Sweet Flower And also neat and helps us when we need her Her name make’s every one faint And no one will ever pass by without saying hi

Poems by Cynta-Liyah Stelivan

What is love?

Is love just two doves? Is love a pair of gloves?

Is love holding a grudge? Is love chocolate fudge?

Is love family? Is love adding a tally?

Is love going to an ally? Is love just saying hey sally?

Is love eating something sweet… Or is it the cooking it up for somebody else?

It’s all that. Poetry inspires me to write what I feel.

So should you.

Happy Valentines Mom

You are special. You are great. You’re no fake in your sake

You sink in a lake. You are flower you cannot devour You are also ours you are like a golden

tower You keep time on the hour And we all love you. Doves worship you.

Don’t Lie Don’t lie Just sigh Don’t lie Just have a ride Don’t lie just cry Don’t lie just hide Don’t lie deny Don’t lie just say hi

You my universe

You are my outer space You are my earth

You are my mother nature You are my course of life

You are the way I roll you are my heart beat

You are whole universe.

“Ghost Poem” from Molly By Golly - Brian Huynh

The family shivered

in the snowy yard. Smoke surrounded,

Thankful, alive- the fire had not spread

Throughout the neighborhood. Bone tried, Molly

Volunteers rushed to her smiles on Soot-covered faces.

Hooray they cheered. Molly, by golly,

In fact, you’re wondrous fine!’’

The end of homes

-Cynta-Liyah Stelivan

The day was Friday and kids want to have more school!

They demanded more school, every day

Hey Mr. President: we want more school!

Thanksgiving Hey Gibe come over for a turkey Don’t just stand lurking I see you perking Hurry up before I start luring you over here right to… Got you!

Oh wow what a pow!

Halloween such a clean home For mom and dad and the he kid’s think it’s a dome

And some wear colone and do it all alone And a lot frown and watch the town

And some feel like falling down

Halloween is a Great Feast for Monsters When Halloween has a full Moon Monsters come out for full tummies of candy And so will a kid named Mandy And daddy does too.

Falling leaves

When leaves fall I do too

We jump in piles of leave For hours

And when the rain showers More come again.

So her feet won’t be stained with mud. She is a geisha.

DAWN -Aran Schaaf .

The waves slap against the sandy shore reflecting the white moon on its downfall.

Slowly one star disappears and the one next to it fades into darkness. Soon, there are only ten stars that remain.

I watch all of them turn into darkness and try to spot the last constellations that are still in the sky.

Then light fills the sky and it is dawn.
