Zodiac animals and their personality traits

RAT Years: 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008

Rats are always honest, and they are observant and curious. They are energetic, talkative and others can find them witty and charming. However, ambition can make Rats ruthless and aggressive. They may find it hard to save, as they like to spend the money they earn and enjoy a good life. The Rat is intelligent, charming, sociable and likeable. They are extremely good with money and are often thrifty. Although at times they can be economical to the extent of miserliness. Rats will spend lavishly under 3 circumstances: when they are in love, to further their long-term or career goals, and on collectibles if they are collectors. Rats are collectors by nature. They are hard-working, innovative and full of ideas. Rats are almost always ambitious. Combined with the knowing of how to take advantage or make the best out of a situation, they are often successful at getting what they want out of life. Rats are good at hiding their emotions, which often leads others to perceive their cool exteriors as those that are not easily roused. They sometimes have difficulties communicating their feelings. People born under this animal sign are frequently nocturnal.

OX Years: 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009

You are likely to be tolerant, dependable, scrupulous and hard-working. You will be happiest in your own home and have a real love of gardening and outdoor activities. The patience of the Ox is proverbial. Calm and dependable, they like to take things slow and steady, including romantic relationships. Oxen are not likely to flaunt open declarations of love, for their passions are not easily aroused. Love grows over long periods of time, but once cultivated, is not likely to diminish. They have a strong sense of traditionalism and can be extremely conservative at times. They are generally dogmatic and tend to resist change. They prefer to do things how they have always done them, although an Ox is industrious and always finishes a task that has been started. They are especially tireless if it helps their loved ones. Despite their stubbornness and occasional dictatorial behaviour, Oxen are generally honest and loyal creatures.

TIGER Years: 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010

The Tiger is warm, loving and dynamic. One is never bored in the company of a Tiger. They are independent and unpredictable. Tigers can sometimes be selfish in pursuit of fun for they are susceptible to being captured by sudden enthusiasm, causing them to alienate their friends. But they generally have great sympathies and understanding for others. Tigers are aggressive and need to control their tempers. They always tell it like it is, but they are also intelligent and sensitive, so will be full of remorse if they upset you. Tigers are protective of their families and peers and often show great courage. Tigers are brave and powerful. At times, they take risks to the point of recklessness. They can make hasty decisions without thinking of the possible consequences. Nevertheless, Tigers are natural born leaders and are often successful in money and career matters. But they do have a propensity to see-saw in triumphs and failures because of their rash behaviour. In love, Tigers are highly emotional. They have a strong sex drive touched with a good dose of sensuality. More likely to “sow wild oats” in their younger days than other signs, they do become more placid with age.

RABBIT

Years: 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011

Rabbits are lucky people. The Chinese believe them to be the luckiest of all. They can be really creative within the confines of their conservative and considerate natures. Although they are articulate and often show great talent, they have to overcome their shyness. Peace-loving, sensitive and compassionate, Rabbits are very affectionate. Rabbits are sensitive, caring and gentle creatures. It is considered the luckiest sign in the zodiac, for Rabbits have good characters. They are likely to come out unscathed from situations that could devastate most of us. They are shy, sentimental and popular amongst friends. The Rabbit is non-confrontational and prefers to negotiate and compromise with quiet intelligence. Although when forced to, they will fight with courage and fierceness, hence their passive disposition must not be mistaken for docility. At worst, Rabbits can be moody and have a certain deviousness because of their wish to avoid confrontations at all cost. They are pleasure-loving creatures. They love being at home and the idea of love and marriage. Rabbits will frequently engage in temporary relationships that provide physical passions, although they rarely engage in anything long-term unless there is a solid promise of comfort and ease.

DRAGON Years: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012

Seen as the symbol of the Emperor in Ancient China, the Dragon is charismatic, enthusiastic and imaginative. They are often dramatic and love to be the centre of attention. Dragons have the ability to inspire others. They are powerful and dominating and like to take the lead. On one hand they make helpful and considerate friends, on the other, they are idealistic and are prone to impose high standards on others. Dragons are dangerous in enmity. As a Dragon, you will have quite a complicated life and you may be considered an eccentric. Blessed with good health, you will have a passionate nature. You can also be dominant and short-tempered as well as ambitious and hard-working. You’ll be best off if you avoid marriage until your later years. Dragons are usually successful in their careers. They have a tendency to be over-confident and arrogant. The Dragon is a prosperous sign but they often spend money as fast as they make it. There is an element of the loner in every Dragon. Paradoxically, young Dragons have a strong yearning for partnership and tend to marry young.

SNAKE

Years: 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013

The Snake is sophisticated, charming and graceful. They have an uncanny innate wisdom that makes them inscrutable. They are usually concerned with their appearance. Snakes are mysterious and are often drawn to secrecy, the occult and the mystics. Snakes can be graceful and very beautiful but need to guard against vanity and materialism. With a very intense nature, they can also be quick to take offence and lash out. But this can be tempered with the wisdom and intelligence they can find within. Although they have the ability to attract money, a Snake is not likely to make their gain in gambling or risky undertakings. Although sometimes stingy, they love the luxuries in life and take great pleasure in good food and elegant living. A Snake would rather go without than have second best. Snakes can be extreme creatures where no middle grounds exist. They are either highly successful or fail miserably. It is either the top or the bottom. The same goes for romantic relationships. If they can’t have the “cream of the crop”, they would rather remain alone. Snakes are sexually passionate and can be seemingly promiscuous, but that is merely due to the secretive quality of their nature.

HORSE Years: 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014

The Hose is high-spirited, confident and energetic. They have an adventurous streak and love to travel. They regard personal freedom with such great importance that at times it causes them to be candidly selfish in pursuit of it. Horses generally have a positive outlook on life. Horses are temperamental and are prone to erratic behaviour. Their unpredictability makes them simultaneously exciting and exasperating lovers. Horses fall in and out of love easily and are likely to change mates frequently. Horses are friendly and need people around them. This shouldn’t be a problem as they are open-minded, witty and animated. So usually they are popular and can be really attractive. Horses like to stand out in a crowd and can be rather impatient. Cheerful and sociable, Horses are well-loved by friends. They are generous to a fault. Their uncanny ability to make spot on decisions in situations that lack evidence or substantial facts endows them with the potential for success in business.

GOAT / SHEEP / RAM

Years: 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015

Goats are sensitive, kind and loving creatures. They are also creative, artistic and sometimes eccentric. The Goat is the zodiacal archetype of genuine goodness and consideration. Goats are lucky about being in “the right place at the right time”. Goats definitely don’t like to stand out in a crowd and will always hide in the wings, but they are elegant creatures and can be very creative. In general, they are serene, home-loving and nurturing. Goats have a need to be loved and are at times, emotionally gloomy. Goats do not take criticisms well due to their sensitivity. They are extremely passive and will only fight under extreme provocation. Their gentility and generosity with sympathy often leads them to be exploited by others. Goats are at best paired in business with a partner who is more aggressive than themselves, such as the Horse. In romantic relationships, they fare well with partners who have complimentary qualities that balance their trusting and gentle nature, as oppose to those who resemble them.

They are fast learners and adapt well to various situations. Monkeys are generally unconventional and often ignore rules. They can be devious and will sometimes bend the truth to get what they want or to help a friend, albeit within reasonable limits. Monkeys are clever and confident tricksters. Monkeys are very intelligent and find it easy to influence others. Despite this, you will sometimes get confused and discouraged. But, conversely, you will always be enthusiastic and really go for whatever you want to achieve. A Monkey often finds it difficult to commit to one person for they are popular with everyone. As vivacious as they are, they are challenged when it comes to displaying charm and affection towards their potential partner. However, once the relationship is established. Monkeys make wonderful partners.

Roosters can be really eccentric and sometimes may seem selfish in their way of life. They are devoted to work and lifelong learning. Confident, motivated people, they may sometimes come across as pompous. While they can be brutually honest, they are also loyal and trustworthy. DOG

Years: 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018

The Dog is a loyal, sincere and altruistic. The Dog is one of the most objective and fair-minded signs in the zodiac. They believe in justice for all. They will fight passionately for their principles and champion the underdogs. For this reason, they can be self-righteous at times. Dogs see the world rather simplistically in “black and white” with no grey areas, hence they are incapable of appreciating mixed motives in people. They have powerful and logical minds. Although friendly and positive. Dogs are often suspicious of strangers. This makes them slow to make friends. You will always find them loyal, reliable, honest and generous. Good team players, they work well with other people, although you might find them stubborn and a bit narrow-minded. They also take their time to give affection in romantic relationships and are often alarmed by those who display it openly and promptly. But when a Dog surrenders its affection, it is for life. They make extremely loyal partners.

PIG

Years: 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019

The Pig is self-sacrificing, sincere and merry. They may come across cynical and brash in the beginning, but underneath the tough exterior is a perfectly soft-hearted and decent soul. A Pig is noble and strong. They make great friends, although not always easy friends. Pigs expect their own generosity to be reciprocated equally by friends or they may quickly end the relationship. They also possess a reckless streak that can make them difficult to handle. Pigs are noble and chivalrous people who are compassionate, diligent, generous, and fun to be with. They maintain lifelong friendships, yet even if they marry someone from their ideal partners, the relationships are likely to be rocky. Despite the fact that they are good-humoured, sociable and cheerful, tact is not one of the Pig’s best virtues. They do not fare well in diplomatic careers. A Pig’s emotional temperature is easily raised. They have strong sexual desires and physical love is very important to them. Pigs make loyal and loving partners.
