1. Application documents Most Chinese Airlines require the following documentation to lodge an application:

1. The Airline’s Application Form2. A colour copy the information pages of your Passport3. A colour copy of all pages of your Class 1 Medical Certificate4. A copy of your valid ATPL 5. A copy of your ICAO English Level 4/5/6 certificate6. Copies of the last 3 pages of your logbook7. A colour Passport photo8. A copy of your highest academic achievement result

Note on Passports If you hold more than one passport, you only need submit copies of one passport. The passport you submit will be used throughout the entire selection process, which can take 6-12 months. If your passport is due to expire in the next 12 months we recommend you renew your passport prior to lodging an application, as the passport you use in your initial application must be the same as the passport submitted for your work permit application.Note on Licenses You are only required to submit one ATPL License and Class 1 Medical with your application. If you hold licenses and medicals issued in more than one country, it is recommended that you submit the License issued by the same country as your passport if that is possible. The ATPL License and Class One Medical you submit should be from the same licence issuing authority.

Note on Logbooks Your logbooks must be endorsed by your current, or last, employer prior to submission to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). This is a mandatory CAAC requirement, some airlines prefer not to endorse their pilots logbooks, however the CAAC will not process a request to convert a foreign pilots licence if the applicant’s logbooks are not certified.

2. Licence verification, employment verification, Police Clearance Certificate and China Entry Visa explained Licence verification letter A licence verification letter is issued by your Civil Aviation Authority (e.g. FAA, CASA, CAA) usually directly to the CAAC. Your aviation authority will have a standard licence verification request form - use the search function on their site to locate the form. Processing time is normally a few weeks.Police Clearance Certificate A national Police Clearance Certificate must be obtained from your home country. If you have been living in another country for over one year you should apply in that country. Usually you are required to apply for a police check personally. The police certificate must be issued within six months of submission.

Employment confirmation A letter from your employer confirming your employment and, if possible, the hours you have flown with them. If you prefer not to inform your employer of your upcoming interview, a proof of employment letter should suffice (ie a letter issued for the purpose of obtaining a loan etc). An employment verification letter is mandatory.China Entry Visa To enter China you require a Chinese entry visa. You can only apply for a Chinese visa once you have received an invitation letter from the Chinese Airline you are applying to. We recommend you contact your local Chinese Embassy to confirm how long it will take to issue a W visa and to request a list of supporting documents are required for the application.
