China has been suffering from the

drought since October in 2008.

At least 18 million people have

been affected by China’s worst

drought in 50 years.

The lake is totally dried and there are dead clams everywhere.

threatened Henan ,Shanxi,

Gansu, Anhui, Shandong,

Shaanxi, Beijing, Hebei,

Jaingsu, Tenshin, Níngxià,

Hupei.

Many grasshoppers died due to the scarcity of water.

The Drought Has Threatened China from October in 2008

The drought has lasted since last

winter , and scientist said the

situation will get serious,

especially in the northern China.

Besides, It is the worst one after 1951.

Almost half of the wheat-growing areas

in the eight provinces were

threatened.

This drought is affecting

millions of people. For

example, Liaoning do

not have access to

drinking water at the

moment.

Residents in some mountain villages are having to walk up to

2km to get water.

Three hundred million farmers’ lives are seriously

affected and the researchers reported that the

bad impact of the drought may be more serious

than the heavy snowfall last year.

The drought has also affected huge areas of

farmland, with crop failures and the death of cattle.

The crops are like wilted grasses, and

can be lighted as firewood.

Approximately 43% of crops in China can’t be

harvested.

in China due to the hot and dry weather.

There have been three people dead and two

injured so far.

The drought causes drinking problems. For

example, it is said that there is a family who share a

bowl of water to wash faces together.

Besides, this family haven’t taken a shower since

the drought happened.
