Chilodonella Uncinata Character abilities Level 9 Fish Killer (fish with x eyes) Special Ability: Facultative Parasite - able to survive without a host Classification Kingdom: Protista Phylum: Ciliophora Class: Phyllopharyngea Order: Crytophorida Family: Chilodonellidae Genus: Chilodonella Species: C. uncinata Important Info: C. uncinata is a single-celled organism which lives in fresh water ponds, lakes, creeks, and bayous where it feeds on bacteria and other microbes. They are able to act as facultative endoparasites and live inside the larvae of the Culex , Aedes , and Anopheles mosquito. Special Ability: Facultative Parasite: Able to live with or without a host. Can also cause a disease called Chilodonelloza, which affects fresh water fish, caused by the transfer of the parasite from mosquito larvae, or ingestion. Damage: Only fresh water fish can develop Chilodonelloza disease, which will cause significant damage to gills and skin. Can be very serious and fatal if not treated in time. Symptoms include heavy breathing, excessive secretion of mucus, clamped fins, loss of appetite, scratching against aquarium decoration, loss of virility, lethargy. It should be noted that a fish can seem healthy long after being infected, and the disease can often already have caused very serious damage when the symptoms finally start appearing.
