The 22nd annual Chili Cook-Off will take place Saturday July 23rd. Considered by most hatters to be the official kick-off to stampede week. It is a great way to spend a day Downtown with friends and family.

Q. Where do I purchase the meat for my chili?A. Wherever you do your weekly shopping.

Q. How much do I make?A. Adjust the recipe so the meat component is approximately 25-30 pounds.

Q. That’s going to make alot of chili. Why so much?A. Although you are required to serve only 1 tablespoon to each taster, we expect up to 3000 people to participate. If you run out of chili, you run out of votes.

Q. Can I cook my chili at home?A. No.

Q. Can I make my salsa at home?A. No

Q. How much salsa should I make?A. The suggested amount would be 12 litres (50 cups)

Q. What do I cook my chili on?A. Most cooks use either a propane barbeque or a camp stove. Both work very well.

Q. What time do I have to start?A. The earlier you begin cooking the better your chili is going to taste. Plan on starting around 7:00am.

Q. Can I sell pop or water at my booth?A. Yes.

Q. Am I allowed to hand out business cards and brochures?A. Yes.
