BIRTHDAY PARTY
ETIQUETTE
By Wannabees Family Play Town
vBirthday party etiquette is constantly
changing, especially when it comes to
children’s birthday parties.
Perhaps the biggest issue in birthday party
etiquette is that of inviting kids in a class.
Is it OK to send invitations to just a few kids?
Or does the whole class need to be invited?
Some schools employ a rule
where kids can’t send out
invitations at school unless
all class members are invited
to the party. While this rule
protects children from
disappointment, it also creates
problems for parents. Some
parents may not be able to
afford a large party, or have
time to send invited to
children outside of school.
The situation is obviously a
tricky one. Not inviting
kids has led to many phone
calls home from disgruntled
parents, and created
divisions between kids that
wouldn’t have existed
otherwise. However, at some
point in a child’s life,
they’re going to have to
learn to deal with
disappointment.
