Opportunities of The WeekOpportunities of The WeekOpportunities of The WeekOpportunities of The Week

PAUMC LIVE! There is something about watching live TV! I would much rather watch a live TV program than a previously recorded one. Maybe, it’s just me - I don’t know.

Well, guess what! This Sunday we are going LIVE at 8:55! That means we will start live streaming our traditional worship service, which is VERY exciting! Here’s why - we have some members who are no longer able to join us in the Sanctuary each Sunday. It may be health reasons, transportation challenges, or simply that some just aren’t able to get up that early. But now - they will have a way to join us each week as we worship at 8:55!

When we visit some of these members and friends, we often hear how much they miss the hymns, the Choir, the liturgy and being in the Sanctuary worshipping with so many of you who have meant so much to them throughout their lives. And, we miss them too! Now, they can watch this service and join us each week and worship at the church they love so much.

And, if you miss the 8:55 service for some reason, you will be able to watch the whole service later by visiting our website and following the links to worship services. And, there’s another huge benefit to this new live streaming - others in our community will have a chance to see what a wonderful traditional worship service we have each week at PAUMC! Maybe they will decide to join us!

So, if you attend the 8:55 service, get ready to be on LIVE TV (or actually, the computer, smart phone or tablet) starting this Sunday, August 18th! Of course, the 11:00 contemporary service is also available for live streaming or viewing at a later time on our website.

We are very grateful to Brooks Mooneyham, Chris Williams and Terry Hiers, and their team of volunteers for all the hard work in getting this up and running! It was not an easy job, but they did it in record time and with grace! Thanks also to all of you who were able to give financially to make this happen!

I just hope this doesn’t mean that Jamie, Kathy and I have to start going to make-up or wardrobe before services on Sunday morning! That might be a little too much!

See you this Sunday! Debbie and I sure do love you all so very much!

In July, Jerry and Rhonda Morton asked trivia questions between competing teams and then we shared a covered dish meal together. This was a fun activity for the whole group and will probably be repeated in the future.

Make plans to join us on Thursday, August 22nd as we head for Carter’s Catfish House in Adel for supper. The church bus will head out at 5:00 PM from the parking lot in front of the Children’s Building. Come join us for supper! Sign-up sheets are posted around the church or you may call the church office (242-3562) so we can give them a head count.

We are looking at going to the movies together in September to see “Overcomers” as a group. The movie does not come out until late August so no specific date has been set as of now. We will have more on this later.

We have discussed heading over to Colquitt to see Swamp Gravy on a Saturday in October, and the light show at the Stephen Foster Memorial in White Springs in December. Plans will be finalized when the committee meets again on Thursday, August 29th at 3:00 PM in the Potpourri Sunday School Room, A-24. Feel free to join us as we make plans for future activities together.

Our new Grief Recovery Group began Sunday, September 8th at 4:00pm in the Jars of Clay SS Room, A-34. A new video specifically for those who lost a spouse will be viewed on the 8th. The class meets on Sundays for 13 independent sessions and the course workbook is $15. To register or for information, contact Pastor David Tart at [email protected] or 229-300-8805.
