Chicken of the woods (Laetiporus conifericola). The top photograph was taken on 09/05/2015; the bottom two taken seven days later, 09/13/2015 of the same specimen growing on the same western hemlock stump. I find this growth rate is phenomenal! It is amazing, to me, what a few days of cool, wet weather, followed by a few days of warmer temperatures, can have on the mycoflora in the Pacific Northwest.
