The Duhallow Choral Society was founded by Brigid Daly on 6th March 1996, to introduce choral music, and promote culture in Duhallow. Now with over 70 members, the key to our success over the years has been a high level of dedication, training and commitment by each member thus enabling the choir to achieve a high standard of excellence while maintaining spirit, vision and enjoyment. For people living in the heart of rural Ireland the choir offers opportunities to explore and challenge their many cultural talents and abilities. We have at all times engaged the finest musical directors, accompanists, and support artists. Presently our musical director is Ms Sharon Reidy, a native of South Africa who has a distinguished musical training career and is now living in Co Kerry. Our music is sacred church / mixed popular/ classical and traditional.

We have been most honoured to have performed regionally, nationally, and internationally at the highest level, for dignitaries such as, President Michael D Higgins, Leinster House for members of Dail and Seanad Eireann, Cardinal William Levada Rome, and Senator Hillary Clinton. Over the years we have toured Belgium, New York, Rome, Germany, Poland, and Wales performing in many prestigious venues, such as St Patrick’s 5th Avenue; the Irish Famine Memorial Manhattan, Grand Central Station and with the Firemen at Ground Zero. We received a special invitation from the Irish American Legislators to perform at the State Parliament in Albany and were guests of the former President of the European Parliament Mr Pat Cox, performing in the parliament in Brussels, and the Irish Colleges at Leuven and Rome. We have performed with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, and with distinguished sopranos such as Ms Cara O Sullivan Ms Miriam Murphy. The choir has won many first prizes in choral competitions.

Duhallow Choral Society performances are mainly for charitable causes. We are honoured and delighted to support the Chicago International Rose of Tralee centre.
