Chicago Section of A C S Celebrates 50th Anniversary
SIOLDI N G a regular meeting on March 15, ' the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of its charter in 1895, the Chicago Section celebrated the occasion with a birthday cake. Several of the Section's oldest members were present, Albert L. Smith, member of the SOCIETY of longest standing in the Section, joining in 1891, did the honors by cutting the cake which pro
vided refreshments for the social hour concluding the meeting. Other members entertained at dinner included Warren R. Smith (1897), Henry G. Martin (1897), George M. Davidson (1895), and Walter B. Brown (1900). About 460 attended the meeting.
Robert E. Zinn, Chairman of the Section, introduced Ward V. Evans as the
chairman of the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Chicago Section to be held in the Fall. Mr. Evans read letters from other old members of the Section who had been unable to attend the meeting. They included E. L. Dunlap, F. B . Dams, and F. E. Dodge, signer of the Section's charter and its first Secretary. Other officers of the Section at the time of organization were Frank Julian, President, and J. H. Long, Treasurer.
Robert J. Moore, manager, Development Laboratories of the Bakelite Corp., Bloomneld, N . J., was the speaker at the general meeting following dinner. His subject was "Synthetic Resin Plastics".
