The Student Conservation Association and Friends of the Forest Preserves are currently accepting applications for Crew Leader positions for the 2021 Chicago Conservation Leadership Corps. CREW LEADER DUTIES: Co-lead, supervise, transport, and mentor a team of 10 high school youth, ages 14-19 for six weeks (Mon-Fri). Complete an assortment of hands-on conservation and restoration projects within different areas in the Forest Preserves of Cook County and plan and lead weekly educational field days. Administrative and reporting duties are required as they relate to data management, photo documentation, and youth assessments. Crew leaders will also be expected to facilitate a provided environmental education curriculum. Crew Leaders will conduct daily health screening questionnaires with their members and monitor all work activities to ensure that participants are following COVID-19 safety protocols. PREREQUISITES: Crew Leader applicants that come out for FPCC volunteer events removing invasive plants or helping out at a Nature Center have a better chance of securing a position for the summer.
