Increase of Foreign Residents and WorkersThe number of foreign residents totaled to approximately 2.73 million people, with 1.46 million being workers, making up about 2.2% of Japan’s total population. (%) Chiba’s population will decrease to 6.11 million by 2030, with the number of elderly people increasing and the number of people of working age decreasing. Progression of Declining Birthrate and Aging Population The number of foreigners in the Prefecture was approximately 165,000 in 2019, up 41% from 10 years prior. Purpose

・The need to create a society accommodating different cultures has increased

in the era of economic and societal globalization and the number of

foreigners increasing.
