It’s no good to be standing in wait freezing cold, just as the driving dogs turn up. HIGH ACTIVITY, FOR EXAmPLE DOG HANDLERS AND bIRD SHOOTERS WITH GUNDOGS.
The key here is breathability. Good synthetic underwear like Chevalier’s Thermolite distributes moisture over a large area so it evaporates quicker. The next layer, a shirt with perforated mesh or a fleece pullover, is for warmth. Last but not least, a wind and waterproof shell. We suggest Paclite®, one of Gore-Tex®’s more recent innovations, or Canada Light with a Chevalite membrane. Also make sure you have a booster garment for breaks.
HIGHLY VARIED ACTIVITY, FOR EXAmPLE STALKING OR HUNTING WITH HOUNDS
Often a dilemma! Either too hot or too cold. No com-promises here. Closest to the body the usual Chevalier Thermolite underwear, followed by a shirt or fleece, and depending on the temperature possibly a pullover. On the outside we suggest our silent Outland Action with Gore-Tex®, which offers good ventilation through the built-in waterproof zips under the sleeves, or Highlander with its Chevalite membrane. The Outland jacket also has built-in Gore-Tex Stretch and is perfect when the type of hunting can vary a lot.
LOW ACTIVITY AND SITTING STILL, FOR EXAmPLE WHEN HUNTING FROm A STAND OR HIDE.
Warm and silent. Layer on layer. In this situation, using several layers is ideal. First synthetic thermal underwear such as Chevalier’s Thermolite, followed by a lined shirt and a pullover or fleece. On the outside we recommend Upland with Gore-Tex®. CHEVALITE Chevalite is our own wind and water barrier. The membrane consists of millions of microscopic pores that give the material its excellent characteristics – it is as good as impenetrable for water, but open for water vapour.
This is how Chevalite works:
1. Waterproof. The importance of waterproofness is easy to understand – you don’t want your body to get wet when it rains.
2. Ventilation. The importance of vapour release may not be as obvious. But just think. When you work hard, you sweat. Body heat causes the sweat to evaporate, forming water vapour. It is this vapour that must be quickly ventilated away from the body and transported into the fresh air. The wind and water barrier must not form any obstacle.
3. Chevalite laminated inside the outer fabric. The most effective way of keeping wetness out. It is only the outer fabric that can become wet. Wetness comes to a sudden halt at the membrane. A laminated outer fabric has another benefit. Pocket flaps and pockets are waterproof.
4. Chevalite Liner. The Chevalite membrane is attached as a lining in the garment. It functions in principle like a wind and waterproof barrier inside the outer fabric.
SYMPATEX® ALLWEATHERThe unique poreless membrane which is 100% windproof, 100% waterproof and has extremely high breathability. Guarantees protection in any conditions. Allweather is suitable for most weather situations. We use this membrane in our waterproof boots and wellingtons.
WINDBLOCKEROur own windproofing solution, based on the Windblocker membrane often in combination with warm, cosy fleece fabric. The combination produces extremely good wind and heat insulation.
A synthetic fabric with a cotton-like feel. Supplex is soft, light and extremely strong. The material is windproof and has excellent breathability. It is water-repellent and dries rapidly. An excellent material as reinforcement in places where garments are subject to hard wear and tear, such as at the shoulders or knees. When used as material for the whole garment, the result is almost indestructible clothing.
This fabric by DuPont is like a three-lane motorway for transporting sweat and condensation away from the body. Every fibre consists of a synthetic, air-filled tube. Millions of these fibres are spun into the thread from which Thermolite is woven. Thermolite is therefore three times as warm as normal compact fibre.
Consists of unspun Thermolite fibre packed into wadding. The same extremely good breathability as in Thermolite, but even warmer. Thinsulate® THINSULATE®
A high-tech material by 3M offering extremely good insulation. Thinsulate is a thin, supple synthetic fabric held together by a film on both sides.
GRADE 1: GORE-TEX® LAMINATED
These garments are intended for use under harsh conditions. They need to be resistant to prolonged rain and hard wind.
All Grade 1 garments are made using Gore-Tex® laminate. Manufacturer Gore-Tex® laminates the membrane onto the outer fabric for us. Gore tests both the lamination and the design of the garments. Garments in Grade 1 are guaranteed rain and windproof. They also have guaranteed excellent breathability.
Some of Chevalier’s shell garments for mobile hunting or trekking are equipped with water-repellent zips and openable, extra ventilation.
Garments in Grade 1 are Outland, Upland, Paclite® and Soft Shell.
GRADE 2: GORE-TEX® LINER The Gore-Tex® membrane hangs freely like a loose, extra lining inside the garment. All seams are taped. The design is tested and approved by Gore-Tex®. Designated as Gore-Tex® Liner. The production process is simpler, which is reflected in the price. You can say that if Grade 1 is State of The Art, then Grade 2 is pretty close.
The garments in Grade 2 are Ranger, Rough Action and Mackenzie.
The Gore-Tex® membrane, which is laminated onto the outer fabric, prevents any water penetration. Only the outer fabric can become wet.

GRADE 3: CHEVALITE LAMINATED Our own rain and wind barrier. Chevalite represents a middle path – tests have shown that the membrane easily meets the normal requirements. In Grade 3, the garments have a Chevalite membrane laminated onto the inside of the outer fabric. On this point, Grade 3 garments do not differ from Grade 1 garments.
Garments in Grade 3 are Highlander and Canada.

SIzE CHARTGORE-TEX® Gore-Tex® is a thin membrane with millions of microscopic pores. The pores are small enough not to let damp or water in from the outside, but big enough to release condensation from the inside.
Gore-Tex® lined garments offer two main benefits: they keep you warm and dry in all kinds of weather. Sweat which evaporates – sweating is the body’s own way of lowering the temperature when you’re working hard – is transported away out into the air. This minimises the chilling, and in harsh conditions life-threatening, condensation process which always accompanies repeated chilling condensation and vaporisation.
We consider Gore-Tex® to be superior to other waterproof materials for several reasons:
1. Waterproofness. Gore-Tex® is significantly more waterproof than any other waterproof/breathable material.
2. Breathability comfort and durability. The Gore-Tex® membrane has high breathability. Its waterproofness and breathability last the entire life of the garment.
3. Material and construction tests. All materials and garments are tested for strength, breathability and construction. Tests include long-term spraying of the garment to reveal any water leakage, especially in vulnerable areas such as the shoulders, along zips, etc. The garments sometimes need to be modified and adjusted before they are approved.
4. Guarantee. Together with Gore, we guarantee that all Gore-Tex® garments are waterproof. Assuming, of course, normal use and wear and tear. If your Gore-Tex® garment should happen not to live up to its promises, we will exchange or repair it after inspection and testing. For any damage not covered by the guarantee, such as accidental tears or burns, help is usually available from a Gore-Tex® Service Centre.
GORE-TEX® PACLITE® After many years as a world leader in laminates combining the properties of waterproofness, windproofness and ventilation, Gore-Tex® has now made a new breakthrough. Gore-Tex® has transferred all the existing good properties to Paclite®, as well as

The new Paclite® membrane is laminated onto an outer protective layer. The result is a shell garment without an inner lining, which is extremely light and takes a minimum of space in a backpack. Chevalier Paclite® weighs less than 500 grams and can be packed down into a small bag that comes with the jacket. In changeable weather, rain and strong winds, Paclite® garments remain completely wind and waterproof and offer good ventilation.
Gore-Tex® Soft Shell is similar to Paclite®, but with a soft, comfortable fleece laminated on the inside. This makes the garment pleasant to wear even next to the body, which can be a great advantage, particularly in trousers. A Paclite® jacket and Soft Shell trousers is an excellent huntwear combination. Lightweight, comfortable and easy to pack down.
GORE WINDSTOPPER® Windstopper® is also a material developed by Gore. It is a completely windproof membrane with very high breathability comfort. Windstopper® as a laminated membrane between two fleece layers produces a highly useful garment. It can be worn on its own when you need silence and maximum mobility, when rain is not a factor. Or as the ideal warming, windproof intermediate layer when the cold sets in.
