Cheryl Warfield, Soprano
Soprano Cheryl Warfield has performed over 15 lead roles in the standard operatic repertoire during her career, including the title roles of Tosca, Aida and La Gioconda. Cheryl made her European operatic debut as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s “Cosí fan tutte” with the Rome Festival Orchestra. This summer, Miss Warfield sings the role of Channah in Holocaust survivor Harry Bialor’s opera/oratorio “Masada” with the Manhattan Opera Repertory Ensemble (MORE Opera. Last season, she sang the role of Strawberry Woman and covered the role of Serena with the Princeton Festival and sang Tosca for MORE Opera under the baton of Anton Coppola. Career highlights include her Broadway debut in Hal Prince’s “Show Boat,” critical acclaim from the Chicago Tribune for her portrayal of Strawberry Woman in the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s production of “Porgy and Bess,” and guest soloist appearances at the NFL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies in Canton, Ohio and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Cheryl’s cabaret-style appearances include performances at the Triad on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, and holiday and special performances at numerous restaurants in Little Italy, most recently at the Enrico Caruso room at the Grotta Azzurra Restaurant. She has been featured at Opera Night at the San Gennaro Festival, the annual Little Italy Christmas tree lighting, holiday performances at the Barclay Intercontinental Hotel, a benefit for the Suffolk Jewish Community Center’s “Kamp Hope” and the Opera Night concert series in Oyster Bay, Long Island.
Cheryl is a member of AGMA, SAG-AFTRA and Actor’s Equity and has appeared on the Tony Awards and the Live from Lincoln Center broadcast DVDs of the Metropolitan Opera’s productions of “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” and “Fidelio.”
An outstanding arts administrator and creator/producer of innovative vocal arts programs, Cheryl is a founding member and producer for Amore Opera in Manhattan and the Manhattan Opera Repertory Ensemble (MORE Opera). She has produced numerous opera performances including Verdi’s “Ernani,” “Il trovatore,” “Aida,” Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” and Puccini’s “La Bohème and “Tosca.” Cheryl founded ADVANCE, a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit vocal arts organization that presents concerts of classical music, and has written, starred in and produced the spirituals concert, “Paul Robeson: A Celebration of Culture,” and the musical “Meet Dorothy Maynor," about the life and career of the Harlem School of the Arts founder. Cheryl holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Ohio State University.
