The participants also have a great opportunity to gain the cultural heritage of Korean history through the various lectures and field trips which take them to the palaces, museums, traditional and commercial markets in the city. The Winter Beyond Borders Program offers intensive and insight of Korea. Courses about Korean Culture will be provided. In addition to a wide variety of courses, tours of historical sites visit will be made with many enriching and life-time experiences. Come visit Korea and experience the dynamic, enthusiastic and unique culture of Asia!
SMU’s Semester Abroad Program is designed for university students who are already enrolled in another university outside Korea. Both male and female students are eligible to apply. As a Study Abroad student, you earn credit toward your home degree while enjoying a valuable international and intercultural experience in Korea. Exchange Students from Partner In-stitutions may also participate in this program and tuition for their students can be waived as exchange basis. Through this program students can enroll in SMU’s undergraduate and graduate school. Credits earned are listed on a permanent SMU transcript and may be transferable to other universities.

Sookmyung Institute for Multicultural StudiesThe Sookmyung Institute for Multicultural Studies (SIMS) is a leading research center for academic research on multicultural-ism. It aims to create a platform for academic discussion on social phenemenon related to multiculturalism occuring in Korea and abroad. SIMS published two academic journals on Multiculturalism and hold two annual academic conferences on Multiculturalism brininging world-class scholars to Sookmyung Women’s University.
Le Cordon Bleu - Sookmyung AcademyLe Cordon Bleu-Sookmyung Academy is the only official Korean campus of Le Cordon Bleu International, a world renowned network of educational institutions dedicated to providing the highest level of culinary and hospitality instruction through world class programs. It was founded in 2002 with a joint vision of raising the global leaders who will lead the culinary and hospitality industry.
The Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network CenterAsia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC) was established in 1996 to promote gender equality and em-power women’s potential and skills in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and was also established as an Institution for UNESCO Chair in Communication Technology for Women in 1998. APWINC has made various efforts to play a pioneer role for women’s informatization in collaboration with international organizations, governmental organizations and NGOs to develop ICT-related projects for women all over the world.
The Research Institute of Women’s HealthThe Research Institute of Women’s Health was established in 2005 by entering in a joint cooperation agreement with Sam-sung Medical Center, the biggest medical center in Korea, and performs professional research related to women’s health and disorders. In particular, it intends to contribute to women’s health and welfare through basic research of causes, cures and prevention of women’s diseases centered around breast cancer.
Korean Culture InstituteKorean Culture Institute(KCI) was established in 2009 for the purpose of promoting Korean culture’s globalization and world culture’s localization in Korea through international communication and expansion of mutual exchange. Based on Sook-myung’s abundant Korean cultural resources like <Sookmyung Gayageum Concert Party>, <Chung Young Yang Embroidery Museum>, it develops systematic education & research programs related to international exchanges. It also plays a role as a Korean culture exchange institute that facilitates the understanding of Korea’s traditions and culture and accumulates refine-ment and knowledge. In this context, KCI holds international forums like Korea-France Forum, Korea-Africa Culture and Art Forum. Also, it manages KF Global e-School and Sookmyung Multi-cultural family Orchestra program.
