Matter – anything that has mass and takes up space

Kinetic Theory of Matter -

Tiny particles (atoms and molecules) in constant Motion make up all matter

Solid – has a definite shape and definite volume

Crystalline – particles are arranged in patterns

Amorphous – particles have no particular order

Liquid – no definite shape and has a definite volume

Surface Tension – force acting at the top of a liquid

Mercury

Viscosity – liquids resistance to flow

Ex. Honey – high viscosity

Water – low viscosity

Gas – can change both shape and volume

Plasma – gas like mixture of positive and negatively charged particles
