ABOUTMITACS

ELEVATE

I’ve learned lab and project management skills that were never part of my formal academic training. I learned how to communicate better with industrial partners and to plan out larger-scale projects that I wouldn’t be able to accomplish alone in a purely academic setting. Thanks to these skills I learned in the Elevate program, I’m starting to coordinate large multidisciplinary projects involving clinicians, academics, and industrial partners – and that’s exactly where I wanted to be.”

Elevate is a one-of-a-kind program. Not only does it support scientific research, but personal and professional development is emphasized. Attending business and entrepreneurship workshops and seminars throughout my fellowship allowed me to see beyond the technical realm and grow my network, tenfold.”

Dr. Peter Bevan, Mitacs Elevate fellow

Dr. Aydin Nabovati, Mitacs Elevate fellow

Are you a postdoctoral fellow – or the faculty supervisor of one – seeking longer-term funding options?

Would you like to develop your research leadership skills with exclusive professional training valued at $15,000?

Do you want the opportunity to partner with a company to address a research challenge over two years?

Are you interested in learning how to manage large-scale research projects?

Mitacs Elevate offers postdoctoral fellows a two-year professional development plan and collaborative research project, building capacity for the next generation of R&D management leaders.

The program provides fellows with customized training that is only available from Elevate. Fellows explore topics such as project management, leadership, and presentation skills, while applying both their expertise and professional skill set to their partner organization. Fellows receive one to two days of training per month throughout their two-year research projects.

This engagement with organizations also provides Elevate fellows with the opportunity to work on a collaborative research challenge and gain valuable research leadership experience.
