Fused pyridine derivativesR 0450 Microwave-Enhanced Fischer Reaction: An Efficient One-Pot Synthesis of γ-Car-

bolines. — A simple approach to pharmaceutically important γ-carboline derivatives is developed which includes the acid-catalyzed cyclocondensation of N-acetyl-3-bro-mo-4-piperidone (II) with arylhydrazines under microwave or thermal conditions [for comparison cf. conditions B)].
