2001 structure structure (solids and liquids) D 2000 40 - 011 Ab initio Structure Determination of a Small-Pore Framework Sodium Stannosilicate. Na 2 SnSi 3 O 9 ·2H 2 O is prepared hydrothermally from a gel containing Na 2 SiO 3 ·5H 2 O, SnCl 4 ·5H 2 O, NaOH, NaCl, H 2 O (1. autoclave, 200 C, 4 d; 2. addn. of NaOH, 200 C, 5 d). The structure of the compound is studied by powder XRD, SEM, 29 Si, 119 Sn, single and triple quantum 23 Na MAS NMR, and TG. Na 2 SnSi 3 O 9 ·2H 2 O crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group C222 1 with Z = 4. The structure consists of a three-dimensional framework of corner-sharing SnO 6 octahedra and SiO 4 tetrahedra. The SiO 4 tetrahedra form helix chains which are interconnected by the SnO 6 octahedra. There are no Sn–O–Sn linkages in the framework.
