Chemical Compatibility ChartIntroduction

The selection of materials that comprise the wetted components of a fluidic system needs to be reviewed for compatibility with the gas or liquid media to be employed. Depending on the type and aggressiveness of the media interacting with these components, swelling, reduced life, decreased performance or catastrophic failure could occur. The following compatibility chart should be referenced to properly select materials for specific fluidic applications.

This information is compiled from a variety of resources based on technical data and tests made available by various chemical, elastomer, and plastic resin suppliers. Recommendations made in this publication shall not constitute a guarantee or warranty of performance nor a modification or alteration of our standard product warranty, which shall be applicable to such products. This guide is believed to be accurate, but due to the many variables, which may affect the compatibility of materials, this information should be considered as a guide only. Actual decisions on material selection need to be thoroughly tested and evaluated by the customer for each specific application. It is the full responsibility of the customer to perform and evaluate the compatibility of materials for their requirements.

Compatibility Legend

1……….Excellent (minimal or no effect)2……….Good (possible swelling and/or loss of physical properties)3……….Doubtful (moderate or severe swelling and loss of physical properties) 4……….Not Recommended (severe effect and should not be considered)
