Checkpoints That You Will Probably Encounter in the U.S.

1. Driver’s License Checkpoint

The purpose of this checkpoint is to check if there are drivers who use a fake or expired driver’s license.

2. Witness Checkpoints/Information-seeking Checkpoints

Instead of catching criminals and observing probable violations, the objective of this type of checkpoint is to ask people for information about crimes or accidents within the area.

3. Border Patrol Checkpoints

This type of checkpoint is usually found in Border States. Its main purpose is to verify if the people inside the vehicle have the right to be in their country. Usually, the officers would ask for documents that would prove that the people inside the vehicle are legally allowed in the country.

4. Sobriety Checkpoints

The objective of this checkpoint is to make sure that the drivers within the area are sober. This is a type of checkpoint where DUI arrests usually happen.
