HMS required a disaster recovery plan that ensured its mission-critical data would always be secure and available. To accomplish this, ViaWest designed a disaster recovery strategy with HMS that allowed the company to take advantage of ViaWest data centers across multiple states, maximizing reliability. ViaWest implemented a mirrored configuration from its production site in ViaWest’s Dallas-area data center to its new fault-tolerant data center in Las Vegas. The disaster recovery solution also spans disparate power grids to help further its overall redundancy and security.
In addition, ViaWest worked closely with the HMS technical team to plan the data center migration. Together, the teams designed a complex multi-day migration plan that was implemented over the course of a long weekend. The comprehensive migration was completed successfully.
