HORSE SECTION

GENERAL CONDITIONS

EXHIBITORS ARE REQUESTED TO READ THE CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

AND GENERAL REGULATIONS

HORSE ACCOMMODATION

Is available on the grounds, but is limited.

Stables & covered yards $15 per yard per night

Outdoor yards $10 per yard per night

Boxes and yards will be allocated at time of entry.

GROUND LEVY: There will be a ground levy of $10 per horse to assist with the after show

clean up. Please muck out boxes.

CAMPING ON GROUNDS

Limited power outlets are available at a cost of $10. If you have a Stallion or Colt, please

contact Jill Martin on 027 6441828 to arrange accommodation.

No power access will be allowed in Manfeild Park unless you have a current electrical fitness

certificate which meets the required legislation standard AS/NZ5301.

STALLIONS

Please note that all Stallions regardless of age are to wear an identification badge “S” at all

times during the show.

FARRIER

A farrier will be available on the grounds Friday 3 – 5 p.m.

CLEAN SPORT

The use of tranquillisers, stimulants, or any drugs capable of affecting the performance of

horses and ponies is forbidden. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances

may be carried out during the show and that testing of all animals is at the owner’s risk.

Testing for forbidden substances will be carried out under the Royal Agricultural Society

Clean Sport Judiciary Committee (CSJC) procedures and rules.

JUNIOR RIDERS

In all jumping competitions, junior riders 14 years and over may compete in both horse and

pony events.

HEIGHT CERTIFICATES

Where applicable RAS height certificates must be carried.

ELECTRONIC AND AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Any electronic or audio equipment carried on a competitor deemed to be possible of outside

assistance to a competitor is banned from all competitions at any RAS or affiliated shows,

with the penalty of forfeiting all prize money, awards and qualifications and elimination from

any further classes at that show.

REFUND RULES

A 60% refund of entry fees will be given if scratching is made at least 2 days before the

beginning of the show with a vet/medical certificate. NO REFUNDS PAID AT THE SHOW.

ENTRIES

All entry fees include RAS LEVY

PRIZE MONEY

Will be paid out at the show from the secretary’s office, with the exception of all Show

Jumping and Show Hunter classes, which will be paid out from the Show Jumping caravan.

For those unable to collect on the day, may collect in person from the Associations office

until December 12th. Prizemoney may be substituted for product or vouchers.

EQUESTRIAN YELLOW CARD SYSTEM

This Show/Event supports the RAS ‘Yellow Card’ system. A Yellow Card will be issued, In

cases of offences in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate behaviour as per the RAS

Constitution and the RAS Rules & Regulations/Bylaws including the Equestrian Rulebook,

the RAS affiliated Show/Event/registered Measuring Stand and their grounds and their duly

appointed delegates may deliver to the Person Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either

immediately or within 10 days of the show) which suspends any penalty until possible new

offences. Full wording of the ‘Yellow Card’ system is available to view on the RAS website

– www.ras.org.nz. ii.

CLEAN SPORT

The Rules of the Royal A&P Society New Zealand in regard to Forbidden Substances apply.

Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the

Show/Event and that testing of all animals is at the person responsible’s risk. Forbidden

Substance - Any substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a

horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central or peripheral nervous system or

the cardio-vascular, respiratory, alimentary, digestive, muscoskeletal or urogenital systems.

ARREARS

No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions, or any other Show/Event

charge is eligible to compete at any affiliated Show/Event. Proof of payment will be required

before any restriction is lifted.

SOCIAL MEDIA

By entering or attending the Feilding IA & P Assn competition you accept that you may

appear within differing media streams that are on location covering the event. Your behavior

at the event and within the competition arena is at your discretion and is your responsibility.

throughout the day.

PROTESTS

All protests must be writing, and may be lodged with the Chairman of Committees within

ONE HOUR of the completion of the class judged together with a deposit of $50 which shall

be returned should the protest be sustained. Should the protest be lodged before the judges

proceeds to their duties, the onus of proof will rest with the Exhibitor; if after that, the onus of

proof will be with the party protesting. No protest will be received later than one hour after

the prize tickets are affixed. The judicial committee of each section will decide all protests as

soon as practicable, and there shall be no appeal from their decision.

GENERAL

Once a horse or pony commences the show season as a Hack, Riding Horse, Park Hack or

Saddle Hunter, or Saddle Pony or Saddle Pony Hunter, that horse or pony is not able to

transfer to another section unless a Change of Classification is actioned through RAS Head

Office.

BREAST PLATE NUMBER HOLDERS – SHOWING

Compulsory for all showing classes with the exception of the Pleasure section and Beginner

Rider section. Competitors are responsible for making their own number. Working Hunters

will be required to wear back numbers which can be picked up and returned to the Horse

Caravan. Numbers will be available by emailing the Secretary from 29th November. Numbers

for entries received after catalogue printed will be available from the Horse Caravan.

HELMET TAGGING

All riders, including harness drivers/with the exclusion of heavy horse (Clydesdale) working

classes, competing at RAS affiliated A&P Shows/Events must wear protective headgear,

which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such

headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena

or ring, the practice area, collecting rings or anywhere else within a Showgrounds or the

grounds of an affiliated Event. Hats/helmets must conform with one of the current approved

safety standards. These standards may be subject to change but the latest list can be found at

http://www.ras.org.nz – equestrian. RAS will advise any changes via their website and

Facebook. All hats/helmets that conform must be identified by the current tag system

implemented by NZPCA, ESNZ and RAS

ALL COMPETITORS ENTER THE GROUNDS AND COMPETE AT THEIR OWN

RISK.

HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

Feilding IA & P Association is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy

event for all staff, and to providing the information, training and supervision needed to

achieve this.

We will take all practicable steps by:

• Providing a safe event, safe equipment and proper materials

• Identifying and monitoring hazards and using the hazard management hierarchy of

Eliminate, Isolate or minimize.

• Insist upon establishment of safe methods and best practices

• Comply with all H & S legislation, regulations and codes of practices

We will take responsibility for Health & Safety procedures, however, ALL PEOPLE ON

THIS SITE need to be aware of their responsibilities and comply with the event’s health and

safety policy.

COMPETITORS will be responsible for themselves at ALL TIMES by observing safe

practices and rules/instructions relating to their competition.

Every person involved in the Feilding IA & P Show is encouraged to play a vital and

responsible role in maintain a safe and healthy event through:

• Being involved in the event health and safety system

• Follow correct procedures

• Safe and proper use of equipment

• Wearing protective clothing and equipment as and when required

• Reporting any pain or discomfort as soon as possible

• Ensuring all accidents and incidents are reported

• Help new employees, trainees and visitors to understand the right safety procedures

and why they exist

• Informing the office immediately of any health and safety concerns

• Keeping the event facilities tidy to minimize the risk or any trips or falls

FEI CODE OF CONDUCT

FOR THE WELFARE OF THE HORSE

The Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) expects all those involved in international

equestrian sport to adhere to the FEI’s Code of Conduct and to acknowledge and accept, that

at all times the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never be subordinated to

competitive or commercial influences.

1. At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare must

take precedence over all other demands. This includes good horse management,

training methods, farriery and tack, and transportation.

2. Horses and Athletes must be fit, competent and in good health before they are allowed

to compete. This encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten

welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids.

3. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to the

competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and

fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event.

4. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they

have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are

over, This covers proper veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia and

retirement.

5. The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in

their areas of expertise.

conducted under the NZAHBS rules for showing in conjunction with the RAS rules.

For registered classes, all horses/ponies must be registered with ESNZ and have a

current ESNZ J/SH discipline start, unless competing using a casual start.

Run under ESNZ Show Hunter Rules V11 2018 and ESNZ Show Hunter Equitation

Series conditions 2018-19.

Horses and Ponies may compete in Show Hunter under the ESNZ Casual Start but they

will not be awarded any HOY qualifying points and they are unable to start in ANY

ESNZ Show Hunter Series Classes

All other membership requirements must be met: refer to the ESNZ website for

membership and registration information
