The Government of the Virgin Islands is pleased to continue its support of this event as it is a practical example of viable partnerships which help to strengthen and further develop our local economy.

The BVI is home to many of the luxury crewed yachts ,and this show affords boat owners, crews, brokers, maintenance companies, caterers, and other companies the opportunity to benefit significantly from the many experiences of doing business in this Territory.

We hope that this year’s Charter Yacht Show is just as exciting and memorable in 2010 as it has been in past years. The Government appreciates the confidence the Charter Yacht Society continues to place in our destination by hosting this annual event which attracts so many visitors to our shores.

There are plenty of ways for charter yacht operators to “go green,” and many BVI Charter Yacht Society members have proved that over the years. In 2009, the Charter Yacht Society worked in partnership with Sailors for the Sea to meet the requirements for the Clean Regatta Program and earned a Bronze Certification.

This year at the 2010 BVI Charter Yacht Show, we hope to maintain that certification and keep our members informed about Green Initiatives in the BVI.

Continuing with our “Go Green…Sail Blue” program, we have listed below some of the services and products available locally.

Plaque The winning yacht will have a plate added to the perpetual plaque in the CYS office. A personal plaque will be presented to the winning yacht and winners of each category.

Judges Judges will remain anonymous throughout the show. As industry partners, the judges represent a cross section of established charter yacht brokers.

CriteriaJudges will be looking at the whole spectrum of qualities that make a yacht and crew a winning charter combination. Size and expense of a yacht is not a criterion. Best of Show winner must be a fully crewed yacht and a Charter Yacht Society member.

How It Works You are not limited to one category. Each dish should be accompanied by a card with the name and brief description of the entry. You are invited to prepare a place setting with your own flair prior to the arrival of the dish.

All preparation and cooking should be done by you aboard your yacht. Plate presentation and sampling will be conducted poolside, Village Cay. You can do as much or little of the actual plating at the table.

Judging CriteriaJudging will be based on the following five criteria: Presentation, Taste, Creativity/Originality, Overall Impression and Use of Fresh, Local Caribbean Produce. *You are welcome to join the Caribbean Mountain Coffee competition. Coffee will be supplied to participants. Judging is based on the most innovative use of coffee. Incorporate it in any of your dishes or create a separate dish.

PlaqueThe winning chef will have their name added to the Perpetual Plaque in the CYS office. A personal plaque will be presented to each category winner.

The most “well-traveled” broker will be rewarded. Governor’s ReceptionThis evening offers a little bit of glamour away from the docks. Hosted by His Excellency, the Governor William Boyd McCleary and his wife Jenny, this event has become a favourite of our brokers and crew. Appetizers prepared by the BVI Culinary Team. Culinary contest results for yacht chefs will be announced. By invitation only.

Broker/Crew Dinner at Nanny Cay Kick off your shoes, dance under the stars and enjoy a sumptuous dinner prepared by Vaughan Grant at Peg Legs, Nanny Cay. Best of Show and Category awards will be presented. The evening is sponsored by Nanny Cay Resort and Riteway Food Markets. Wristbands must be worn.

Broker DaysailBrokers are invited to be a charter guest for a day. Sail, swim, dine and lounge. A hassle-free transfer from Peter Island to St. Thomas by ferry follows.

TaxisTaxi transportation will be provided on Saturday and Sunday nights. Sponsored by CYBA, CharterPort BVI and Regency/Northrop and Johnson.
