Celtic Standing StonePOLYSTYRENE CARVING

Carved polystyrene scrimmed with jesmonite and fiber glass

Representation of Dagda: the headCeltic god, accompanied by his two pigs

Painted with sand/PVA/acrylic.and embellished with scenic moss

Below: Troll feet carved from polystyrene using hot wireand sandpaper. They were scrimmed in muslin and PVA glue.

Right: Troll mask constructed from latex and muslin over a polystyrene former.

Mask was then painted using acrylics.

Left: claw-hand props for short film ‘Shambler’by ‘Strange Company’

‘Wrist’ is polystyrene skinned with latexand painted with oil-based paints

A total of 4 claws were made, including 2 withsafe silicone hooks (far right). These werecast from the original metal meat hooks

PROP MAKER: 3D MIRRORED DISCO T’sCarnival Chaos Event Design for T in the Park

Computer-cut polystyrene T’swere surfaced with a layer of mirrored tiles.

Tiles were measured to fitand accurately and cut to shapeusing a band saw and circular sander

I also assisted with installation,preparation and cleaning of props and rigging of pipe anddrape.

PUPPET MAKER: PUSS GLOVE PUPPET “Puss in Boots” Pantomime, Brunton Theatre, East Lothian Council, Musselburgh

Head - expanded foam cast in a jesmonite mould.

The puppet is operated bymeans of a glove glued intothe head.

Body - machine-stiched faux fur.

The mouth opens and closes.The limbs move freely.

Modern digital photos editedin Adobe Photoshop:- desatuarated- vignetting applied.

The photographs were soakedin a mixture of water and tea.

The photographs to the left show a comparison betweenoriginal digital images and their final appearance on screenafter editing and treatment.

This photograph originated asa vintage print which was scannedand edited/treated to resemblethe transformed ‘vintage’ digitalphotographs.

Brass effect wall plaque for solicitor’s office.that displayed an elegance that was both faded and slightly exaggerated.

Close-up detail shows original illustrations designed in Adobe Illustrator.

Top Right: faux concrete texture created using plaster/PVA mix. ‘Day of the Dead Skull’ was hand painted onto this surface.

Bottom Right: faux brick texture was created using plaster/PVA mix. Shop signage was hand stencilled onto this surface.
