Charlton Lane Hospital provides specialist assessment, treatment and care for older people with functional mental health problems and people with dementia.

The hospital is equipped with state of the art technology. This includes assistive technologies to ensure your safety and comfort.

The hospital has three wards, a family suite and a comprehensive therapy department including an arts room and physiotherapy room. From your ward you can access communal and private sensory gardens.

What you will need on admission

We are only able to provide emergency clothing, so it is essential that you bring with you, clearly labelled, if possible:

• Your medication• Three sets of day clothes• Suitable footwear – one pair of shoes and one pair of slippers• Dressing gown• Coat• Toiletries – liquid soap, shaving gel etc. Please avoid bringing bars of soap as they do not comply with our health and hygiene policies• Any telephone numbers you may need

Visiting times

Where possible, it is important to have visits from your family and friends. Visiting times are flexible and we understand that in certain circumstances, visiting outside specified hours can be beneficial.

In order to avoid mealtimes, please visit during our standard visiting hours which are:

• 2pm - 5pm• 6pm - 8pm

Please can no more than four people visit you at any one time. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Please note Charlton Lane Hospital operates a No Smoking policy throughout the building and grounds. However, patients only are permitted to smoke in designated outside areas.

Who can help?

Coming into hospital can be a worrying time, especially if it’s your first time in hospital. However, there can be times when coming into hospital is the best option for you.

Our nursing team are always happy to offer support and advice. Please let a member of the ward team know of any issues or concerns.
