Durham is coming off their first loss of the season Sunday afternoon in Gwinnett, but come home having won the series three games to one. The Knights meanwhile swept their season-opening 4-game set at home vs. Norfolk, and currently sit a game ahead of the Bulls for first place in the division. LAST NIGHT The Bulls suffered their first loss of the season Sunday afternoon, as they fell behind the Gwinnett Braves 4-0 before eventually losing 4-2 at Coolray Field. Durham attempted to rally with an RBI double by Curt Casali in the fifth and a solo home run from Mike McKenry in the seventh, but the comeback stopped there with the Bulls going down in order in the final two frames. Starting pitcher Ryan Yarbrough (0-1) took the loss after allowing 4 ER on 7 hits, 2 HR, over 6 IP. LINE DRIVE LEONARD Patrick Leonard may have gone hitless in the Bulls’ first loss of the season Sunday, but the 6’4” third baseman still comes back to Durham tied for the International League lead with 8 hits and 2 stolen bases. Leonard is also tied for 4th with 6 RBI. PITCHERS BEWARE The Bulls and Knights enter this early-season series with two of the hottest lineups in the International League. HOME OPENER HISTORY Durham has now won six straight Opening Day games thanks to their 10-8 victory in Gwinnett on Thursday. The Bulls have also enjoyed a lot of recent success in their home openers, with the club winning seven of their past eight home opening contests at the DBAP dating back to 2009. That includes a 7-3 victory over Charlotte last year. The trades of Chris Sale and Adam Eaton brought in Top 100 prospects Yoan Moncada (No. 2), Lucas Giolito (No. 11), and Michael Kopech (No. 16), with both Moncada and Giolito playing with the Knights.
