    BOYNE CITY Its never too

early to think long term.Boyne City incoming sopho-

    more Corey Redman, checked one

    important goal off his to-do-list

by verbally committing to CentralMichigan University and coach

Keno Davis on Friday, August 3,becoming a member of the

    Chippewas 2015 Class.Redman, who stands 6-4, was a

member of the varsity squad last

season for the district championRamblers. He averaged 12 points

and five boards a game as a fresh-man. This summer he has been

playing a lot of basketball, includ-ing two AAU teams where he

    played up an age group.

    They (CMU coaches) seemed

very nice and they work you outhard, which I liked, Corey said. They just seemed like a good

group of guys and its always been

a dream to play D-1 basketball, and then to only be two hours

away, thats perfect for my familyto come watch me.

He made the Reaching HigherTop 100 a couple of weeks ago,

    said Nick Redman, Coreys dad

and Boyne Citys coach. Therewas about 150 college coaches

there. He was one of only a fewfreshmen about to be sophomores

there, and I thought he playedwell. He fit in and held his own.

    When plans for Coreys AAU

team to go to Indianapolis lastweek fell through, he went to Cen-

tral Michigans camp insteadwhere he was named the camps

MVP.It turned out to be a blessing in

    disguise.

I got a call from (assistantcoach Jeff Smith) asking if I was

going to pick Corey up from

camp. I said,no, my wife is,Nick Redman said. He told meCoach Davis wants to meet you

and hes going to offer Corey a

scholarship and I about fell over. Icalled my wife and told her not to

leave yet, because the coachwants to talk to you. She and

Corey went into Coach Davis of-fice and they talked about how

    much they like Corey.

He tells my wife that hes offer-

ing a scholarship. My wife didntknow that Division 1 scholarships

are full (tuition) so she asks howmuch money hes talking. He said

no, you wont have to pay for any-

thing. Then she about fell over.

Prior to Davis interest in Red-man, former CMU coach ErnieZeigler had also been intrigued by

the young Redman a year ago.He was kind of on the radar last

year with Central with their old

coaches, Nick Redman said. When we went to our team

camp, he won a couple of gamesfor us when he was an 8th grader,

about to be a 9th grader. They in-vited him down to an underclass-

    man recruitment day last year.

I also want to thank Steve Bell, his Parallell 45 AAU and

Bankhoops camps are a great wayfor Northern Michigan kids to

have an opportunity to show thatthey can compete with the best

    players in the state.

While Corey wont be able tosign his letter of intent for a cou-

ple of more years, it was thattime-span that was the only con-

    cern for Nick Redman. They

asked that Corey not attend any-more prospect camps, so Nick

Redman asked coach Davis if he

commits, will you hold up yourend of the bargain when Coreybecomes a senior. Davis said that

the only thing that could hurt

that would be if he got in troublewith the law or if his grades

slipped, because he wants goodcharacter kids.

I told him that I can guaranteethat none of those will happen,

    Nick Redman said.

With those issues aside, CoreyRedman was happy to offer a ver-

bal commitment. We were just at Reaching

Higher and Zack Novak had aspeech about getting offered by

    Valparaiso as a sophomore, Nick

    Redman said. He didnt commit

and he didnt get another offeruntil the very end of his senioryear, when he got lucky and got

offered by (Michigan). He wasthat close to not getting a scholar-

ship. It was a great speech from

Zack, and it got me thinking. Wehad always talked about how that

would be a perfect fit if he couldsomehow ever be good enough to

play there. With the whole basketball re-

cruiting process out of the way,

Corey can now focus on being anormal high school student.

Thats what we thought too,Nick said. Its a perfect situation

for him, and now he can just playhigh school sports and enjoy it.

Coery will be lacing up the

sneaker in mid November for thehardwood, but in the meantime,

football will take center-stage,where Redman is a quarterback

for Boyne City, looking to take the

position his older brother, JayRedman, held the last couple of

    years. Jay graduated this spring

and is playing basketball atLawrence Tech.

Coaches have been saying howimportant it is to be tough men-

tally as well as physically, andplaying football has been a huge

part of developing that and help

build his character, Nick Red-man said. After getting the news,

Jay was the first person I called

and I told him that this wouldhave not have happened without

him, he put a lot of time in withCorey and was a great mentor for

    him.

LLC. With 12 exterior colors, 14interior color and trim options,

three powerful, fuel-efficient en-gines, three transmission

    choices, unsurpassed safety fea-

tures and world-class aerody-namics, the new Dodge Dart sets

a new standard for the compactcar class at 41 miles per gallon

on the highway. The Dodge Dart was a dream

to design, said Joe Dehner,Head of Dodge Design Chrysler Group LLC. The Alfa

Romeo-based architecture al-lowed us to design an exterior

with great proportions that sayfun-to-drive when you look at

    it. Add in the Charger-inspired

racetrack taillamps, a new, sleek crosshair grille and piano

black accents, and it all adds upto a performance-inspired de-

sign with just the right amount

    of attitude.The Fiat Group-based Com-

pact U.S. Wide architectureslow, wide and long dimensions

ensured a stable body-in,wheels-out stance and coupe-

like silhouette. The platform al-lowed for accentuating thefender formations and pushing

the wheels as far out to the cor-ners as possible, creating a very

stable look, which gave Dodgedesigners incredible opportuni-

    ties for some very dramatic

sculpturing. Designers visuallystretched the skin of the car

over the vehicle framework as ifstretching nylon over a surface.

    When designing the all-new

Dodge Dart, we were inspired byclassic, beautifully designed ve-

    hicles throughout time, Dehner

added. Each car was beautiful, based on its surface work and

presence alone; they didnt needunnecessary cladding, jewelry

or lines that confuse the eye.The Darts driver-centric

layout is designed to put all con-trols within easy reach of thedriver. Customizable displays

and comfort-tuned seats arepackaged in an exceptionally

spacious, pleasing interior.Packaged in the footprint of a

    compact car, the 2013 Dodge

Dart features the interior spa-ciousness of a mid-size sedan,

and it boasts best-in-class hipand shoulder room.

The all-new Dodge Dart isthe showpiece for Dodges next

    generation philosophy of inte-

rior design, said Klaus Busse,Head of Interior Design

Chrysler Group LLC. The Dartinterior takes the beautiful, pre-

cision-crafted interiors werolled out last year and adds a

little bit of fun with surprises of

color, eye-catching ambientlighting and some really cool

technology.Dodge expects the Dart to ap-

peal to a wide-ranging group ofnew car buyers, from millenials

    to empty nesters. The millennial

customer is a young profes-sional most likely purchasing

their first new car. They desire a

car that is truly an expression ofself, a car they can personalize

and call their own. The millen-

nial customer is connected withtheir friends, enjoys having a

great time and is never withouttheir phone. They grew up with

technology and they indulge inthe latest high-tech features.

The empty nester customer isin the process of redefiningtheir lifestyle, and they have

more time for themselves thanin their recent past. This cus-

tomer typically knows whatthey like and purchases things

    and participates in activities

that make them happy. Theempty nester appreciates what

they have, leads an activelifestyle and is always up for a

challenge. This customer is in-terested in not only the way

things work, but why. The empty

nester appreciates a good value, but doesnt want to sacrifice the

level of quality and amenitiesthey have worked hard to attain.

Available 3rd quarter of 2012,the all-new Dodge Dart has been

    engineered with great levels of

    refinement, craftsmanship andengaging driving dynamics.

Question & Answers AboutSelling Real Estate

How to prepare for a seamless

    transitionIf youre moving this summer,

    the busiest season for moving,

you know how daunting it can be.But if you create a blueprint for

your move, the transition fromhouse to house will go more

    smoothly.

Here are 2 more of 10 things

you can do to prepare for a seam-

    less transition.

    7. Take pictures of electronic

    hook-ups. Hooking up TVs, DVRs,

    home theater systems and com-

    puters can be challenging. Before

    unplugging any wires for the

move, take a photo of the connec-

tions, print them out and label

them in detail. This will create

    fewer headaches when setting up

    technology in the new home.

Keep track of all loose wires

using baggies or boxes that are

    clearly labeled, and personally

    carry these easy-to-lose items on

    moving day.

    8. Packing cleaning products

and toxins. Products such as de-

    tergents, pesticides and paint are

heavy and unwieldy to pack. Dis-

pose of as many as possible be-

fore the move in an eco-friendly

way. Call your citys waste dis-

    posal department for guidance on

    proper disposal. For items that

    must be transported, pack them

in a small box within a larger box

    for protection against leaks. Dont

    overstuff boxes with these items!

    Consider marking these boxes in

a different color, and seal them

    extra tight. Keep them separate

from the rest of the boxes, partic-

ularly if you have kids and pets.
