[Topic: How to create great Character Designs]
The graphic design industry in Thailand has developed significantly in terms of its creativity and
uniqueness. However, the creative industry in Thailand lacks its own unique identity and the channels of
promotion for the distinctive creations of Thai designers. Designers go out of their way to find
inspiration and creativity that is unique of its own style. Thai designers have been keeping themselves
updated with the changing trends of the world, creating their portfolios into something that is both
trendy and yet at the same time special.
Character Design is an important part for the initial production of most products. Jobs are
created for designers who have unique designs and features. Universities now have developed courses
for character design for students. Character Design is an essential part in the creative industry as it
creates value to both products as well as animations.
CG+, together with the Japan Foundation, Bangkok aims to improve the performance of
designers and encourage them in creating more professional designs with an identity. CG+ proposes to
organize a seminar on character design entitled: Japanese Character Design – How to Create Great
Character Designs. This is designed to target the participation of students and professional designers.
This seminar aims to help Thai designers improve their designs by learning from international
professionals. Internationals speakers, have a track record of having their works published worldwide,
will be invited.
The seminar will focus on training participants on how to be a great character designer. It is
open to all students, entrepreneurs and companies, as well as individuals who are interested to develop
their skills in character design on a global scale.
Objective
1. To develop the character design industry to contribute to the development of the creative
industry.
2. To enhance the production of character designs, in both domestic and global markets.
3. To give designers an opportunity to learn and develop in a professional manner.
4. To stimulate interest in the development of work submitted at an international manner.
5. To stimulate and encourage the growth of the creative industry in Thailand in order to
continue building its portfolio on an international scale.
6. To develop unique character designs that is distinctive of Thai designers.
7. To exchange experience and culture between Thailand and Japan.
Target group
- Lecturers and students of universities in the digital multimedia and animation faculty.
- Producers and professionals of animation and production houses.
- The general public and anyone who has an interest in animation and multimedia.

DEVILROBOTS
They are the Japanese character designers, well-known worldwide for their creation of Evirob
Tofu-Oyako. The Devil Robots was formed in 1997 by the founder of the Shinichiro Kitai (Art Director),
Kenji Saito (Creative Director) and Seikou Kato; Yoshizo Yoshimura (Creative Director), and Takeshi
Ikegami (Designer).These designers are known for their creativity in creating characters and illustrations
for websites, music planning and design, and the production of various products. Their trademark main
Character is To-Fu Oyako. It is well known since its distribution to the public in 2002. They are also
known for the character "Evirob". Most of their works are made famous through various media usage,
including the production of various goods and toys, sold to the mass market. The Devil Robots have
been engaged widely for website designs and brochures designs by large organizations worldwide. They
have designed the interface and themes for at least 20 major events around Asia.
