SOLIDWORKS INSPECTION Automated inspection documentation creation from PDF files or SOLIDWORKS drawings. SOLIDWORKS Inspection provides Automated Creation of Balloon Drawings and Reports for Quality Inspection as well as PDF files directly from SOLIDWORKS drawings.

Many industries must adhere to a bevy of strict safety regulations that require industry-standard reports, including inspection documents such as AS91003 or PPAP forms. To comply with these regulations and requirements, product designers or engineers must inspect their parts. To do so, they must create First Article Inspections (FAI), inspection reports, and ballooned drawings.

This process has traditionally been manual, time-consuming and error-prone. SOLIDWORKS Inspection removes the tedious manual efforts, reducing the chance of errors by automating the creation of inspection reports.

SOLIDWORKS Inspection is FAI and in-process inspection software that automates the process of creating ballooned inspection drawings and inspection reports.

Used as a standalone application or SOLIDWORKS add-in, this easy-to-use software reduces the time needed to create inspection documentation by 90 percent, and virtually eliminates errors due to manual input of data. The software works with SOLIDWORKS drawing files, PDFs, or TIFFs. Resulting reports can be exported to Excel spreadsheets using standard templates or customized templates using the Template Editor to comply with company or industry standards.

SOLIDWORKS Inspection is a simple and intuitive application that can reduce the time needed to create inspection documentation by up to 90 percent, and helps to virtually eliminate input errors, thus improving quality and reducing time-to-market.

SOLIDWORKS Inspection Professional extends capabilities by giving users multiple ways to enter measured values directly into the project to help simplify part inspection. Each characteristic value can be entered manually, by using a digital caliper, or by importing coordinate measuring machine (CMM) results.

VIDEO: Print 3D Models

PRINT 3D MODELS DIRECTLY TO 3D PRINTERS

Made possible with SOLIDWORKS Print to 3D.

Although SOLIDWORKS can also output .STL, a widely accepted format for 3D printing, the 3MF and AMF formats provide more information about the model being printed and, therefore, requires no post-processing to define data such as the position of your model relative to the selected 3D printer, orientation, color, materials, and so on.

3MF

If you have Microsoft® Windows® 8.1, you can print directly using the 3MF format included. Simply set the print options in the 3D Print Property Manager and print to the 3D printer. A preview of the print bed and the model’s location within the print bed lets you modify settings before committing to a 3D print job.

To access the 3D print dialog box and specify print options, click File > 3DPrint. The print dialog box that is available depends on your installed 3D print driver.

AMF

You can also export part and assembly files using the Additive Manufacturing File Format (AMF), an XML-based format designed to support additive manufacturing processes like 3D printing. In addition to the model geometry, an AMF file can contain information about the color and materials of objects for 3D printing.

With SOLIDWORKS you can print directly to 3D printers, similar to how you would print a document to your office printer.
