Uses for a Cell Wall

• A cell wall helps depict a plant cell from an animal cell• The cell helps it shape, protect, and keeps it against the

force of gravity• Cell walls are much thicker than the plasma membranes• The primary cell wall is to make new cells and growing

them actively with cellulose fibers

• In the middle is the lamella and this ticks to the plant cells by adjacent manners

• When the cell matures it strengthens the cell wall• The plants cells make a secondary wall to add as

protection between the membrane

Collagens, ECM, and many More

• Animal cells don’t have a cell wall but a ECM is what protects them

• A collagen is a glycoprotein which is what the animal cell secretes out

• It forms strong fibers out side the cells• The fibers are woven in to proteoglycans which the

proteins are linked• It is 95% carbohydrates

• Another ECM protein is fibronectins which bind to the cell surface receptors called integrins

• The cells are built to the plasma membrane• Integrins bind also to the cytoplasmic side associated

with proteins that are attached to microfilaments

Intercellular Junctions

• Each cell is made up of tissue whether it would be animal or plant cell

• The cells interact in direct contact such as adhering, communicating, and interacting with each other

Plasmodesmata

• The plasmodesmata is where a plant cell that is non living would isolate itself from one another

• Then the plasmodesmata is linking itself or connects to the chemical environments of adjacent cells

Animal Cells Tissue

• There are three types of tissues• Tight Junctions• Gap Junctions • Desmosomes

Tight Junction

• The cells are tightly pack against the plasma membrane and bound together by specific proteins

Gap Junctions

• They tend to provide cytoplasmic channels from one cell to another

• They surround a pore through which ions and molecules can pass

Desmosomes

• They function like rivets• They fasten cells together in strong sheets• Attach muscle cells together
