ACTIVITY
Draw 3 basic shapes: train track, ring, & star
![Page 2: Chapter 3.1.5 Network (Network Topology)](https://reader036.vdocuments.mx/reader036/viewer/2022081413/5496c871b47959794d8b50d8/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
3.1.5 NETWORK TOPOLOGIES

ACTIVITY
What can you determine from the angles & intersection of the 3 objects?

NETWORK TOPOLOGY• Bus Network• Is the cheapest
because it uses the least cabling
• The cables must have terminators on the ends
• If one connection is lost, the whole network fails
![Page 6: Chapter 3.1.5 Network (Network Topology)](https://reader036.vdocuments.mx/reader036/viewer/2022081413/5496c871b47959794d8b50d8/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
• Ring Network• Use tokens to pass data
around the network• The computer that wants
to send data waits to grab the token
• Sent to the recipient - it's ignored by all other computers
• If it is a large file, all users have to wait to access the network
NETWORK TOPOLOGY

• Star Network• Expensive due to cabling • If one connection is lost,
the rest of the network is still able to run
• Expensive due to necessities of a hub
• If the hub fails, the network fails
• May be the most expensive, but is the best in the long-run

NETWORK TOPOLOGY
So, what is the conclusion that you know about the 3 different network
topologies?
