cartilage- flexible, rubbery tissue that cushions area where bones meet
joint- A place where two or more bones meet
ligaments- connective tissue that connects bones in a joint
periosteum- the outermost portion of the bone
vertebrae- are the little ring shaped bones that make up the spine
Bone Marrow
Bone marrow fills the hollow of most bones
The main function of bone marrow is producing blood cells.
Red marrow produces red and white blood cells
Yellow marrow stores fat.
Rigid means stiff and not flexible
Osteoporosis- a disease where bones become less dense, weak, and break more easily.
Sprain- when a ligament is stretched too far or is torn
