CHAPTER 1- SECTION 1 EARLY HUMANS PALEOLITHIC NEOLITHIC Men hunted animals for food. They learned how to domesticate animals. Had early forms of technology. First villages, Jericho & Catal Huyuk Old Stone Age New Stone Age Lived mostly in caves & tent- like shelters Used plants for food. Cave paintings thought to have religious meaning or to have a good hunt. Later became known as the Bronze Age (used bronze tools) Nomads (hunter-gatherers); travel in small clans of no more than 30 people Began to stay in one place because of FARMING REVOLUTION!!!!!!!! Discovered/tamed fire- cooking food, warmth, scare wild animals, smoked meat, light the darkness Started using copper for tools, then went to bronze- also made better farming tools (sickle) Women cared for children & gathered nuts & berries. Men herded, farmed, took care of the crops, & protected the villages. Men hunted for the meat using strategies like running Women did household tasks.
