Channel Maintenance Dredging and Regulation
Title 33 of the Code of Federal Regulations part 335.7 defines the Federal Standard as “the dredged
material placement alternative or alternatives identified by the Corps which represent the least
costly alternatives consistent with sound engineering practices and meeting environmental
standards established by the 404(b)(1) evaluation process or ocean dumping criteria.”

Channel Maintenance Dredging and Long-term Plans
Each Dredged Material Management Plan will contain an
Environmental Assessment (EA) and Section 404(b)(1) – Compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act
– Compliance with the Clean Water Act
On-Site Inspection Team (OSIT) – Federal and State partners with regulatory or management jurisdiction
– Proposed placement areas are coordinated with OSIT
