Dear MembersTimeflewbyandourtermastheManagementCommitteewillbeendingatthiscomingAnnualGeneralMeetinginJune2012.WehavebeenkeepingyouabreastonwhathasbeenhappeningwithandintheClubinourquarterlymessagessincewecameonboard.

Asmanyofyouarealsomembersofotherclubs,someofyouarealreadyorwouldbeaffectedbytheincreaseinmonthlysubscriptionsintheseclubsmainlyduetodecliningjackpotsurplusesandrisingcosts.Wehaverefrainedfromusingthis‘quickfix’althoughamere$5.00increaseinourmonthlysubscriptionwouldtranslatetoabout$200,000addedtotheannualsubscriptioncollections.Instead,weadoptedacorporateapproachbyidentifyingotherareasofopportunitiestoimprovethefinancialsituation.Extraeffortswereputintoincreaserevenuefromguestroomsandcorporateeventswhileensuringcontrollableexpenseswerekepttoitsminimum.Wealsoinvestedwiselybyreplacingsomefruitmachineswiththelatestmodelswhichprovedtobeagoodmoveasthenewmachinesrenewedplayers’fervourandalsoattractednewandpastplayerstotheJackpotRoom.

Regretfully,membershiprecruitmentisdowntoadribblecomparedtolastyearastheClub’slandleaseshortensbyanotheryear.Withthelackofentrancefeesfromnewmemberships,thisfiscalyearwillendwithhigherlossesbutbereassuredthatthecashflowisstillhealthy.Wearepleasedtoinformthatwehaverecentlyaddedanother$800,000toourfixeddepositsandnowthetotalfundsring-fencedforthelandleaserenewalamountsto$4.6million.AsupdatedbytheHonTreasurerinthelastissue,wehavebeenactivelyengagedindialoguewiththerelevantauthoritiesontherenewalofourlandlease.AsSingaporeSportsCouncil(SSC)willberelinquishingtheirstatusasFounderofthe

Club,theyareunabletosupportusinourlandleaserenewalbuttheyremaincommittedtohelpensurethatthelandleaseissueissettledearlyforustoplanforourfuture.SSChasrecentlyrevertedthatonceURAfinalisesitsre-parcelforthesiteandallowabletenurebyend2012or2013,thesitewillbeputupfortenderbySLA.TorenewtheClub’slandleasebytenderwouldbechallengingandmaycosttheClubmorethanitcanaffordfinancially.Therefore,wehaveapproachedothergovernmentrelatedorganisationstoexploreareasofopportunitiesforcollaboration.Thisapproachisofnecessityasweneeda“Godfather”tohelpfacilitateourquesttorenewthelandleaseandavoidparticipatinginapublictender.It’sacaseofSURVIVAL!AtthiscomingAGM,wehopetobeabletoprovidemoredefinitestatusofthelandlease.Also,duetoSSC’swithdrawalasFounder,wewillbetablingtheproposedchangestotheConstitutionformembers’approval.

Homemadesoapisbiologicallyandecologicallyfriendlyasnaturalingredientsareused.Naturalingredientshavemanyhealingpropertiesandareidealforsensitiveskinorforskinconditionssuchaspsoriasisandeczema.Onecanchooseormakehomemadesoapspecificallyforeachskintypetreatment.

Afterademonstrationonhowtomakehomemadesoapwithnaturalingredients,participantswereguidedtomaketheirownsoapbarwhichwasthehighlightoftheworkshop.

Onarrivalatthefarm,thegroupwentonaguidedtourofthefarmtoseeatfirsthand,howorganicplantswerecultivated.Attheendofthetourtheygainedinsightonwhatweretheprocessesandrequirementsthatqualifyafarmtobeorganic.Toroundoffthetour,theywereservedlunchwhichcomprisedanarrayofnutritiousorganicvegetablescookedindifferentstyles.

Thegroupthenheadedbacktotheorganicfarmwheretheyweregiventheopportunitytoharvestvegetablesandgettobringhometheirfruitsoflabour.Afterallthehardwork,theytuckedintoasteamboatdinner.
