    300 Château Clos l'Église-Clinet 2001 £320.00 Pomerol

It blasts off with an explosive perfume with touches of vanilla, roasted blackberries & coffee.

Thick, rich & dense palate feel. Very concentrated. Some tannin remains. Long, sensual

    finish.

    309 Château Ducru Beaucaillou 2003 £350.00

2nd Growth Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Julien One of the most compelling Ducru Beaucaillou’s made in the last quarter century is the 2003

(which is also the first vintage to be packaged in an impressive heavy glass bottle with a

special long cork). A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon & 20% Merlot, it is a powerful, tannic,

blockbuster effort revealing a liqueur of mineral-like component intermixed with creme de

cassis, raspberry, & flower characteristics, & an atypically high 13.5% alcohol. Having firmed

up considerably since bottling, it exhibits tremendous definition, weight, & concentration. It is

a wine for patient connoisseurs. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025+. A brilliant tour de force!

    96 Parker Points.

    305 Château Gruaud Larose 1982 £515.00

    2ième Cru Classé, Saint-Julien

Good deep red. Very complex, perfumed aromas of plum, leather, meat & minerals. Sweet,

lush & young; really stuffed with fat, meaty fruit. Finishes with big, ripe tannins & palate-

staining sweet fruit. 98 Parker Points.

    306 Château Cos d'Estournel 1982 £565.00

    2ième Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Estèphe

The 1982 is atypically thick, super-concentrated, rich & powerful. The tannin is more

aggressive, but the wine still reveals that fabulous inner-core of sweet, jammy, blackcurrant

& black-cherry fruit. There is considerable glycerin & body in this immensely promising

example of Cos d'Estournel. 95+ Parker Points.

    284 Château Mouton Rothschild 1989 £750.00

1er Cru Classé, Pauillac The 1989 displays a dark ruby colour that is already beginning to reveal significant lightening

at the edge. The bouquet is surprisingly evolved, offering up scents of cedar, sweet black

fruits, lead pencil, & toasty oak. This elegant, medium-bodied restrained wine is beautifully

made, stylish, & not dissimilar to the 1985. It is an excellent to outstanding Mouton that

should be close to full maturity in 4-5 years; it will drink well for 15-20. 90 Parker Points.

    304 Château Pétrus 1995 £2250.00

Pomerol Unquestionably one of the vintage’s superstar, the Petrus 1995is taking on a personality

similar to the extraordinarily backward, muscular 1975. This is not a Petrus that could be

approached in its youth (i.e., the perfect duo of 1989 & 1990). The wine exhibits an opaque

ruby/purple colour followed by a knockout nose of toast, jammy black fruits, & roasted coffee.

On the palate, it possesses teeth-staining extract levels, massive body, & rich, sweet black

fruits buttressed by powerful, noticeable tannin. A formidably endowed wine with layers of

extract, this is huge, tannic, monstrous-size Petrus that will last for 50+ years. 95+ Parker

    Points.
