From Your ChairmanWow, the month of June has flown by, and here we are starting July. As we are trying to return to normal, there have been a few bumps in the road. As we entered Phase 2 of reopening, there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases. The question everyone is asking is this because of loosening up or more and better testing? The answer is probably that it is a combination of both

The Chamber moved ahead and planned our first event since the pandemic struck. The annual Saline County Business Expo/ Hook, Line and Chicken event was set for Friday, July 10 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Benton Event Center. Carefully planning to ensure everyone’s safety was paramount in the planning. However, at this point, the decision has been made to postpone the event to early fall. The purpose of the event is to give our members and friends a chance to highlight their businesses, so we want to ensure the safety of our participants and guests. After consultation with board members, vendors, and staff, there was the feeling that maybe this might not be possible because of the present situation with COVID-19. Always wanting to serve our members in the best way possible, it seemed post-poning the event was the better option. We certainly apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, and we promise you that we will continue to work to make our 2020 Saline County Business Expo/Hook, Line and Chicken an excellent event.

At the Chamber, we continue to work to help our area business members stay in the loop about the things going on that affect us all. The staff continues to work on sending vital emails, meeting with business leaders to see what help they may need, planning future events, doing ribbon cuttings for new members, and conducting business as much as possible. We appreciate the support of our members; without you, there would be no Chamber. Happy Independence Day, and I hope you stay safe.
