BUY LOCALWIN PRIZES! WIN CASH! SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES!

GET YOUR BINGO CARD IN THE DECEMBER ISSUE OF CHAPEL HILL NEWS & VIEWS!

WWW.DOUGLASCOUNTYGEORGIA.COMWant to do something to support the local economy that is simple and fun while helping Douglas County’s future? It’s easy – play Chamber Buy Local Bingo presented by Bank of the Ozarks this holiday season! While there are abstract solutions to the recovery of the economy such as government spending programs, or massive loans to large corporations, the DC Chamber is looking at a simple way to bring a boost to our local economy. Chapel Hill News & Views is partnering with the Chamber to “challenge ” its members to BUY LOCAL from November 19 – December 17 and in return, participants can win big! 24 local businesses are featured on a Buy Local Bingo card and invite locals to visit their locations. Each business, in addition to the Douglas County Chamber and Douglas County Court-house, will have Buy Local Bingo cards available. When a patron visits a business, they will receive a unique mark on their Bingo card. Once a participant has 18 of the 24 squares marked, they are eligible to be entered to win one of 24 door prizes and ultimately a $250 cash prize from Bank of the Ozarks. Here’s how you play:1) Pick up your Bingo card in the December issue of Chapel Hill News & Views, DC Chamber, Douglas County Courthouse, Bank of the Ozarks, or one of the 24 participating businesses.

2) Visit 18 out of 24 businesses between November 19th and December 18th and receive a unique mark validating your visit to each location. No purchase is necessary, but please consider shopping locally this holiday season. 3) Turn in the completed Bingo card at the DC Chamber or Douglas County Courthouse by 10 a.m. on December 18th. The drawing for all 25 prizes will take place at Douglas County Chamber on December 18th at noon. You do not have to be present to win. One entry per person. You must be 18 years or older to play Buy Local Bingo.

Be sure to check back next month for the Bingo card that will be printed in the December issue of Chapel Hill News & Views! For more information on Buy Local Bingo, contact the Douglas County Chamber at 770.942.5022 or visit www.douglascountygeorgia.com.

The Douglas County Chamber is pleased to announce its partnership with the Douglas County School System for the fifth annual “Principal 4 a Day.” This program will take place on November 19, 2015 at all Douglas County Schools.“Principal 4 a Day” is a program adopted by Chamber President & CEO, Kali Boatright and DC School Superintendent, Dr. Gordon Pritz in 2011. This program will allow members of the business community to visit one of the 36 schools in Douglas County and shadow the principal for a half day. Each school principal will be paired with a local member of the business community who will experience a typical day in the principal’s shoes.

Guest principals will be exposed to the many exciting programs offered in our schools as well as gaining first-hand insight into the challenges that schools face on a daily basis. “We feel it is highly important for our business leaders to see what goes on in our schools,” commented Boatright, “many of our members, like myself, have children in the school system, and this is a great way to see what happens after the first bell, but from the other side of the desk. The Chamber is proud to present this program and is looking forward to sending our businesses back to school!”

DCSS Superintendent Dr. Gordon Pritz stated, “We are excited to again be partnering with the Chamber to offer this opportunity for those interested in getting a firsthand look at the great, and challenging things going on in our schools here in Douglas County. We had great participation the last three years, and we are hopeful it will be even bigger this year. We have a great group of leaders in our principals, and they are proud and excited to share the exceptional things going on in each of their schools.”

While this program is for members of the business community, other members of the Douglasville and Douglas County community will have the opportunity to participate in the second portion of this program, “Teacher 4 a Day” in spring of next year.

For more information on Principal 4 A Day or to apply, visit the Chamber website at www.douglascountygeorgia.com or contact Sara Ray at 770.942.5022.
