Thank youThank you for considering taking on a challenge for St Richard’s Hospice. Challenges are not only good fun and provide a strong sense of personal achievement, they are also a great way to raise money for our patients and families.

We have trips and experiences to inspire you locally or across the UK and overseas. We hope there is something for everyone!

You can even create your own, or sign up to another organised challenge and we will support you all the way.

The Magical Waterfalls WalkSaturday 30th March

A 10 mile, guided walk in the Brecon Beacons National Park passing eight impressive waterfalls and several smaller ones along the way and walking behind at least one waterfall. The coach departs from St Richard’s Hospice at 6.45am, with the walk commencing at 9.30am and finishing at approximately 4pm. The coach will leave at 5pm.

Administration fee: £35, including transport. Plus, pledge to raise £100 to support our care.

Abberley AbseilSaturday 30th March

Are you prepared to go over the edge for St Richard’s Hospice? Abseil down the 141ft Abberley clock tower whilst taking in the beautiful views of the Worcestershire countryside. Your expert instructor will help guide you to the ground in front of all of your friends, family and spectators.

The minimum age for this event is 13, with no maximum age but some height and weight restrictions do apply.

Administration fee: £35 with a pledge to raise at least £75

The administration fee covers the cost of hosting our event. Your sponsorship money is what makes a difference to our patients and their families.

Scenic SixSunday 7th April

Enjoy a 6 mile race or 2 mile fun/run walk in the lovely village of Peopleton. The event is off road and multi terrain through fields and countryside.

Entry fees: 6 mile, £12 and 2 mile, £3.

On the day entry: 6 mile, £15 and 2 mile, £5.

Sunday 28th AprilForest Warrior

A tough 10k route that starts & finishes at Speech House in the Forest of Dean. An obstacle race course paradise surrounded by trees lakes and streams with a route that will take you through a mix of dense forest and firetrack paths with varied obstacles that will see you pushed to your max.The route is littered with endless natural obstacles and tricky terrain along with a selection of the toughest obstacles we could think of including the balancing bridge and “NINJA WARRIOR STYLE” finish.Use the discount code on our website for 15% off your registration fee.

Sunday 19th May Worcester Full & Half Marathon

This popular challenge has dug its running shoes firmly into the calendar. Starting from Sixways Stadium, the route heads east from the city and takes in some of the stunning Worcestershire countryside. All finishers receive a quality bespoke medal and technical t-shirt.Entry fees:

Cotswold Way WalkSaturday 15th JuneTake on a challenging 20-mile walk from Broadway Tower to Cleeve for our Build 2020 Appeal. This route takes the walker through quintessentially English landscape and is as varied as it is beautiful. Panoramic views, historical sites, Jacobean architecture and taking in the highest point of the Cotswolds. Transport available to and from St Richards

Hospice, Worcester. This walk is challenging with climbs up to 317 metres.

Messy MadnessSaturday 15th June

Take part in our messiest event yet! A 5k route of powdered paint, foam and plenty of gunge. Run or walk the route at Churchfields Farm near Droitwich in your funkiest fancy dress and be prepared to get very messy. On finishing you will get a unique medal and a scrumptious Churchfields ice cream.

Administration fee: adults, £15, under 16s £10. Plus, pledge to raise as much as possible for our hospice care.

Group Skydive DaysSaturday 8th June / Sunday 8th September Join our group skydiving days at Hinton Airfield, near Brackley, and experience how it feels to free-fall from 10,000ft at speeds of up to 120mph. Take in the views before being expertly steered to the ground with a controlled landing in front of your cheering friends and family.

Administration fee: £70, plus:

• Pledge to raise £500 and jump for free!• Self-pay £200 and raise as much as you can

The date for our December Santa Skydive is to be confirmed.

Paddle, Plod & PedalSunday 23rd June

The Paddle, Plod & Pedal follows a circular 45 mile route through beautiful Worcestershire countryside along the rivers Avon and Severn and quiet country lanes. This is an all-day challenge for teams of 8-10 to complete at their own pace - a real test of endurance but it’s not a race.

There is no entry fee for this event, however we would like you to pledge to raise £1,500 per team.

Worcestershire Way WalkFriday 5th JulyTake on the Worcestershire Way challenge and trek 31 hilly miles in a day.

Individually, with friends or get your colleagues together to walk the length of the Worcestershire Way. Beginning at Bewdley at 6am, stride out across countryside before finishing with the spectacular slopes of the Malvern Hills. Lunch is provided at The Talbot, Knightwick.

St Richard’s BikeathonSunday 30th JuneRide through the scenic Worcestershire countryside on predominantly quiet country lanes or cycle routes. There are three idyllic routes to choose from: 16, 45 and 64 miles, catering for people of all abilities.

Administration fee: adults, £30, under 16s, £15. Plus, pledge to raise as much for the hospice as possible.The administration fee covers the cost of hosting our event. Your sponsorship money is what makes a difference to our patients and their families.Kindly sponsored by Midland Communications.

London to Paris CycleWednesday 24th - Sunday 28th JulyFour days, 308 miles, two capitals, one awesome ride in the tyre tracks of the world’s greatest cyclists - plus watch the finale of the Tour de France 2019. This hugely popular challenge has been going for years and gets booked up very fast so sign up today!

Option A: £125 plus pledge to raise £1,600 or more. Administration fees:

Option B: £125 plus self-fund £800 and raise as much money as you can for St Richard’s Hospice.

Prudential Ride London - Surrey 46 Sunday 4th AugustJoin Team St Richard’s on a spectacular 46-mile route on traffic-free roads. Beginning at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London and following the same route as the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 for the first 27 miles before taking a new two-mile route, which then links up with the last 17 miles through London to the finish in The Mall.

The Prudential Ride London - Surrey 46 is still a challenge and a wonderful way to ride your first sportive. Unlike the 100 mile route, the minimum age is 16.

Each participant receives a hospice branded cycle jersey.

Administration fee £45 plus pledge to raise £395 or more.

Join more than 57,000 other runners in the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields for a truly memorable day.

Successful applicants will be required to pledge to raise a minimum of £750 in sponsorship.

Run Worcester: Worcester City 10K and Half Marathon

Take part in Worcester City’s 10K or Half Marathon events, join Team St Richard’s and raise funds for the hospice.

Choose your distance, pledge to raise funds for our care and receive a free St Richard’s Hospice runner’s top and goodie bag. A limited number of places can receive 10% off the race administration fee.

Waterways WalkSunday 4th AugustTake on the challenge of walking Worcestershire’s waterways. A 22-mile circular flat route from Droitwich Spa, along the towpath of the renovated Droitwich Canal to the magnificent river Severn and back along the Worcester to Birmingham Canal. A 12 mile route is also available from Worcester to Droitwich Spa.

Adults: £15 and children: £7.

Severn Valley WalkSaturday 12 OctoberStarting from Bewdley Severn Valley Railway (SVR) choose from either

• 4 mile walk to Upper Arley • 7 mile to Highley • 14 mile to Bridgnorth

Please see our website for information on administration fees and how to enter. Dogs are welcome. Pledge to raise £30.

There will be a return train ride to Bewdley station on the Severn Valley Railway for participants of all routes. Enjoy a flat walk alongside the railway, enjoying the autumnal colours.

Sunday 8th DecemberSanta Dash

Enjoy a festive, family friendly, fun 2 mile run or walk from Worcestershire Country Cricket Club along the river to Diglis – finishing outside Browns at The Quay. You will receive a free Santa suit and on finishing, you will be treated to some festive refreshments and a special Santa Dash medal. Please note under 3s will not be provided with a Santa suit and this is a pushchair and wheelchair friendly route.

Registration fee: adults: £15 children (3-16 years): £10 Your registration fee covers the cost of the event so we appreciate any sponsorship raised and suggest a fundraising target of £30pp.

Overseas Trek 2020Great Wall of China Trek7th – 15th November 2020In 2020 St Richard’s Hospice will be taking a team of trekkers to China to experience the longest man-made structure on the planet.

This challenging 5-day trek takes you to a remote section of the Great Wall, from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and Simatai. Not only will you trek on the wall itself, meticulously built and restored over thousands of years, but you will also trek through remote landscapes with awe-inspiring views of the green rolling hills and mountain peaks, with the Great Wall as the backdrop. Staying in guesthouses throughout the challenge allows you to gain a deeper understanding of local culture as you discover the lifestyle of the local people and taste the incredible cuisine.
