Chain Valley Colliery and Mannering Colliery
Great Southern Energy Pty Ltd (trading as Delta Coal) is a 100% Australian owned company. Delta Coal operates Chain Valley Colliery and Mannering Colliery.
Chain Valley Colliery is located on the southern end of Lake Macquarie approximately 60 kilometres south of Newcastle. Mannering Colliery is approximately 1.1km south of the Chain Valley Colliery.
Employees and supporting businessesDelta Coal employs over 250 workers and contractors across both mine sites. Delta Coal also supports local businesses, local communities and local council through direct and indirect spending and contributions.
OPERATIONAL HISTORY
Vales Point Power Station commissioned. Chain Valley Colliery and Wyee State (now Mannering Colliery) were developed to provide coal to the power station.
The first underground mining at Chain Valley Colliery and Mannering Colliery commenced with the bord and pillar method.
1960 Miniwall Mining method
is established.
2011 1st April 2019 Great Southern
Energy Pty Ltd (trading as Delta Coal) became the owners and operators of Chain Valley and Mannering Colliery

Environmental Management• Our Environmental Management System (EMS)
provides a framework for the systematicmanagement of environmental issues.
• The EMS covers design, development,production, maintenance and rehabilitation ofthe operation and its infrastructure.
• We conduct monitoring of meteorologicalconditions, air quality, water quality, noiselevels, subsidence effects, flora and fauna andrehabilitation areas to evaluate theeffectiveness of our environmentalmanagement processes
• The EMS framework provides standards,procedures, objectives and targets, to helpmaintain and continually improve on ourenvironmental performance

• Transitioned in April 2019 to Delta Coalownership and alliance with Delta Electricityto retain local, domestic coal supply for ValesPoint Power station and NSW’s householdenergy requirements
• Significant improvements have been achievedin productivity through planning andinvestment in Delta Coal’s people andengineering assets
CommunityDelta Coal is committed to ongoing open and honest communication with the local community and other stakeholders.
