We are happy to present you with our recent newsletter, which will update you with the programs that took place at Chabad Pudong, from September - December. (Excluding Shabbat & holidays)TRANSCRIPT
Shofar Factory
Bar Mitzvah of Chen Baran
We were workers for one day at the annual Welcome Back BBQ, where the Shofar Factory took place.
Adults and kids cut, drilled, sanded, and shellacked their very own ram’s horn, turning it into a real Shofar.

Chen Baran just turned 13, and celebrated his Bar Mitzvah with the Pudong community.

Do It Yourself It's so popular today to “do it yourself ” that businesses are making money by not helping you. Paint your own walls, check out your own groceries, fill up your own gas… Judaism is a “do it yourself ” religion. You put on your own tefillin, no one can eat the matzah for you, and the Shema you must recite for yourself! Even commandments that can be done through an agent, like building a Sukkah and preparing for Shabbat, it's preferred that you partake in the Mitzvah in some way or another.
Judaism doesn't believe in bystanders or spectators. Everyone has an equal right and access to the Torah, and to maintain a personal relationship with G-d. Just do it!

The light of the menorah shined again this year at the BURSA - the Shanghai Diamond Exchange Center. Many young adults that are working there and others, gathered to celebrate together the third light of Chanukah with songs, delicious food, and a great game of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire'.

Pudong Hebrew School - Sukkah Party
Sukkot is here! Students and their parents had a fabulous time at the Sukkot party. They played Sukkah Bingo, which tested their holiday knowledge. They also made their very own Stuffed Torahs, and Lulav pens. Of course everyone had the opportunity to shake the Lulav &Etrog. A tasty lunch was then enjoyed by all in the sukkah.

Kitta Gimmel builds a mobile Sukkah Glezer family enjoys the party
This year, we celebrated Rosh Hashanah dinner in one of the most luxurious and innovative hotels in the world - the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel. The beauty, the environment and the service were better than ever and helped us to begin the year on a high note.
Building the Community Sukkah
This year we took the project of the Sukkah to a whole different level. After purchasing wood and tools, a great team of community members built the entire sukkah from scratch. The outcome was amazing; a beautiful, large sukkah that fit over 60 people.
Thanks Nathaniel Perez for taking charge & running this project. Thanks Max Perez, Tzahi & Amit Sella, and Ronen & Yonatan Rahamim for all your help. Thanks Olesya and Pascale for adorning the Sukkah with all that creativity.

Mobile Sukkah visits International Schools
The Mobile Sukkah, built by students of the Pudong Hebrew School, journeyed to the International schools all around Pudong.
Under the direction of Morah Nechamie, the children taught their friends the meaning behind the sukkah custom, and then invited them to add their decoration to the sukkah walls.
We heard wonderful feedback from the schools and plans are to do the same for Chanukah holiday.

A New Twist - Challa
Mixing, kneading and braiding is what all hands were occupied with. All the ladies mastered the many different challa twists, including baskets and napkin rings. Everyone came home with a personalized challa apron and a dose of recipes and tips.

The course "Toward a Meaningful Life" started at the monthly Lunch and Learn. The first lesson was about Discovering Your Personal Mission Statement, and the feedback was great. You are welcome to join us for the upcoming lesson on January 10
Pre-Chanukah Cruise
Considering that many traveled during the winter break, the Chanukah festivities began much before the actual holiday.
The pre-Chanukah party was celebrated on a beautiful cruise traveling along the Huangpu River. The children were busy with Chanukah activities, while adults chatted and enjoyed the scenery. A fantastic game of "Parents and Children" was played with lots of laughter, and a Kung Fu show was enjoyed by all.
