Roosevelt faced opposition from many people, both Democrats and Republicans, about his New Deal Programs. Republicans did not like the how Roosevelt used “Deficit Spending” to pay for the programs. Democrats felt he did not do enough to help people and suggested taxing the wealthy more, create pension plans, and nationalize banks. Roosevelt responded with a new set of “Acts” called the “Second New Deal” where he put millions more to work, helped strengthen workers unions, and provided benefits to the elderly and unemployed.

allowed to make more than $1 million

Must spend all $ to keep it in circulation Recipients would have to retire to collect

pension = more open jobs for the unemployed 2 cent tax on business transactions would pay

for the pensions
