Simulated Forgery
Simulated Forgery is to produce forgeries freehand.
Simulated Forgery includes the slowly copied forgery (poor qualities) & the practiced freehand forgery (more successful)
7
Comparison of Traced Forgery and Simulated
ForgerySimulated Forgery is far superior to Traced Forgery because a talented artist or calligrapher may learn to sign a name remarkably similar to the targeted signature if he/she can have sufficient time to practice the signature freehand.
8
• However, Simulated Forgery can be detected by carefully observing the basic characteristics of handwriting such as • the overall form (the size, shape, slant,
proportion, the beginning & ending strokes of the letters);
• line features (writing speed, pen pressure, spacing between letters and words and how the letters are connected);
• margins and format (width of margins, spacing); and
• content (punctuations).
9
Blind Forgery
The forger used his/her own signature to sign someone else’s name on a real legal document such as a will or a stolen cheque.
Document Analysis Research Poster
You and a group (three to four people) will choose one of the cases listed on the front of the Document Analysis Research Poster sheet.
Once one group has chosen a case, you can’t also have that case!
No more than seven groups
What does it entail?Your group will:
Outline the details of the caseDescribe the documents associated with the caseDiscuss conclusions of investigatorsIf this case was solved, who was arrestedIf not, who were the suspects?
You will also cite every fact and picture used on your poster with a list of footnotes on the back.
You need to make it look nice, neat, and colorful for full credit. I strongly recommend printing pictures at home and bringing them in.
