Port Tobacco Schoolhouse

CH-126 c. 1900 Port Tobacco School Port Tobacco

A rectangular, clapboarded frame structure built shortly after the county

seat was moved to La Plata, this is one of the few one-room schoolhouses

remaining in Charles County. Although the building was stabilized in the late

1960s, it has remained vacant and is now in a deteriorating condition.
