Carlton Gardens Primary School 12 May 2017 Building Update We are finally nearing completion of our buildings and grounds works. You will have noticed in the last few days that the fencing has been repaired and the fire and gas services area has been fenced off. The air conditioner cages have been put in place and this week the balustrades on the ground level of the new building will be erected. Our exciting new tree house has been completed except for the ropes course that needs to be attached and the landscaping around that area completed. The remainder of the astroturf will be replaced over the next few weeks. The children are already enjoying the new astroturf on the basketball court and I’m sure will take to the down ball courts that will appear. Your patience along with the exceptional behaviour of our children has been greatly appreciated. Many parents have commented very positively about the works that have been completed thus far and along with the children are looking forward to having the school return to relative normality CGPS News 1 Instagram We are now on instagram. Mother’s Day Stall

This week our Parents and Friends Association ran their annual Mother’s Day Stall. It provides children the opportunity to purchase gifts to help celebrate Mother’s Day. We would like to thank Parents And Friends, in particular, Mel and Natasha, for all their hard work organising gifts.

Grade 5/6 Furniture

Recently our grade 5/6 Students received their new classroom furniture. This furniture allows flexibility within the learning space. Students can work in a variety of different areas in a variety of different ways. The space also received 2 interactive panels that they can utilise in their learning.

Parking Inspectors

Please be aware that parking inspectors are operating in the area before and after school. If you park illegally there is a good chance your vehicle will be photographed and you will receive a fine. You will also be fined if you stop on the crossing and drop your children off.

Junior School Council Report

In JSC we have been discussing school issues and wishes. We have come up with some things that we want to do, as a fundraiser. We have decided on some. We also came up with an idea of a coding club, which people could learn programming and how to code. The fund’s will go to something important for our school or something people want.  We have been talking about fundraisers that you want. We also have discussed the school's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, which will come in usefully when we are trying to find out what to fundraise for. We are deciding if we should get any new sports equipment for our school. This year’s JSC seating is different, we have all the JSC members split up evenly into 6 groups, with a mix of year levels and experience. We are trying to make our work more productive on the tables. We were also thinking about doing something about the shelter shed, because not many people want to go there. This year JSC is trying to do great things for the school!   Jin Xi and Grace

District Cross Country

On the 27th of April, 25 Grade 5/6 students competed in the District Cross Country held at Princes Park. We had to run 2 or 3 kilometres depending on which age group we were in. There were about 50 to 100 students for each race and it was quite a difficult competition. Everyone managed to finish the race and almost everyone ran the whole way. Everyone tried their best and a couple of CGPS students finished in the top 12 and qualified for the next level. The students from our school who qualified were Raven who finished 7th, Belen who finished 9th and Anika who finished 10th. As a group effort, CGPS was very supportive and cheered on not only our school but all the competitors who passed the finish line. It was a tiresome day but all of us enjoyed the race very much.
